Installation Instructions for Toyota Tacoma (Front Mounted Receiver)

- Tin Snips (for trimming the splash guard, if needed)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
2016 and Newer Models:

Remove the Lower Air Dam:
- Remove the (11) fasteners securing the air dam using a 10mm socket.
- Return the air dam to the vehicle owner.

Remove the Tow Loop (If Present):
- Remove the M12 bolts securing the tow loop using a 17mm socket.
-
Pull Back Inner Splash Guard:
- Temporarily remove the fasteners holding the splash guard to the bumper fascia to allow access for bolting the hitch side brackets in place.

Trim the Splash Guard (If Needed):
- Trim the lower portion of the splash guard to provide clearance for the hitch side brackets. Refer to Figure 4 for guidance.
All Models:

Remove End Caps and Skid Shield:
- Remove (2) M12 bolts securing the front bumper beam end caps and return them to the customer.
- For easier access, remove the skid shield (if present) by removing the (4) M8 bolts.

Insert Bolts and Spacers into the Frame:
- Insert the 4” bolts (Item 5) with the spacers (Item 4) through the existing holes inside the vehicle frame.

Install Carriage Bolts in Bumper Beam:
- Place the 1.50” carriage bolts with spacers (Item 2) into the existing holes in the bumper beam where the end caps were removed.

Attach Side Brackets:
- Hang the hitch side brackets onto the 4” bolts installed in Step 2.
- Place a 1/2” conical washer (teeth side toward hitch) and a 1/2” hex nut onto each bolt. Tighten finger-tight for now.

Install Center Section of Hitch:
- Raise the center section of the hitch into position between the side brackets.
- Loosely attach the center section using the 1.25” carriage bolts, lock washers, and hex nuts as shown.

Secure the Straps to the Bumper Beam:
- Attach the center section straps to the 1.50” carriage bolts installed in Step 3.

Tighten All Fasteners in Sequence:
- Tighten the center section to the side brackets first.
- Tighten the straps to the bumper beam next.
- Finally, tighten the side brackets to the vehicle frame.
- Torque all 1/2” fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N-m).

Reinstall the Skid Shield:
- Reattach the skid shield that was removed in Step 1.

- (2) 1/2”-13 x 1.50” Carriage Bolts (GR5)
- (2) Spacers (.250 x 1.0 x 2.0)
- (6) 1/2” Conical Washers
- (4) Spacers (.250 x 1.50 x 3.00)
- (4) 1/2”-13 x 4.00” Bolts (GR5)
- (8) 1/2”-13 x 1.25” Carriage Bolts (GR5)
- (8) 1/2” Lock Washers
- (14) 1/2”-13 Hex Nuts
Safety Notes:
- Periodically check the hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the frame to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering the vehicle.
- Warning: Do not exceed the vehicle’s Front Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR).
- Maximum Cargo Capacity: 500 lbs.
- Maximum Winch Line Pull: 9,000 lbs.
Manufacturer Notes:
- Always wear eye protection when working under the vehicle.
- Do NOT use a torch to cut access or mounting holes.
- This product complies with SAE J684 and VESC Regulation V-5 safety standards.
