Installation Instructions for Toyota Highlander

Wiring Access Location:

Step-by-Step Instructions:
- If present, remove plastic appearance panels covering the driver’s and/or passenger’s side frame rails. Remove the plastic rivets fastening the fascia tabs to the appearance panel. Use a small screwdriver to remove the center of the rivet. The passenger’s side panel can be reinstalled; return the driver’s side panel and fasteners to the vehicle owner.
- Remove tow hooks from each frame rail and return hooks and fasteners to the vehicle owner.
- Remove plastic and rubber plugs from the bottom and outside of the frame rails and return them to the owner.
- Raise the hitch over the exhaust tip as shown. Be cautious not to pinch the hoses on the outside of the passenger side frame rail or scratch the fascia. Lower the exhaust if additional clearance is needed. Remove excess caulking from rails if necessary.
- Align the hitch with the existing weldnuts in the frame and install fasteners to the bottom of the frame rails without fully tightening. Note: The hitch will contact a fascia tab on the passenger side at the exhaust bridge.
- Install the remaining fasteners into the weldnuts on the outside of the frame rail. Be careful not to pinch the hoses.
- Torque all fasteners to the specified torque values.
- Reinstall the vehicle exhaust if removed.
- Reinstall the passenger-side appearance panel.

Locate the 10-Pin Tow Plug:
- Under the dashboard on the driver’s side, locate the 10-pin tow plug between the emergency brake pedal and the brake pedal.
