Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Open the vehicle tailgate.
- Remove the two Phillips screws securing each taillight assembly (Figure A).
- Locate and remove the grommet behind each taillight where the vehicle's taillight wiring passes through from inside the cabin to the taillight (Figure B).

Access the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- Inside the grommet hole, locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors.
- These connectors will resemble those on the custom wiring harness.
- Carefully separate the connectors from the taillight housing to avoid damaging the locking tabs (Figure C).

Remove Interior Trim Panels:
- Remove the cargo area floor covering and spare tire cover.
- Remove the two fasteners securing the rear scuff panel.
- Pull out on the bottom of the scuff panel, then up to remove it, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs (Figure D).

Access Interior Panels:
- Remove the screws holding the rear trim panels in place.
- Partially pull out the driver and passenger-side rear trim panels (Figure E).

Connect the T-Connector on Driver Side:
- Behind the driver-side access panel, insert the T-connector end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors.
- Reinstall the grommet and taillight, ensuring all connectors are fully inserted and locking tabs are engaged (Figure F).

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with a nut in the vehicle frame, or drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw.
- Ensure the area is free of rust, dirt, and paint.
- Secure the white ground wire using the provided ring terminal and screw.
Warning: Check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.

Route the Green Wire to the Passenger Side:
- Route the T-connector end with the green wire behind the removed scuff panel to the passenger side.
- Repeat Steps 2–5 for the passenger side using the green wire.

Mount the Converter Box:
- Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle, near the taillight.
- Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

Route the Black Power Wire:
- Route the black power wire from the vehicle battery as described in the CME-PCL-INS sheet.

Position the 4-Flat Connector:
- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk.
- When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk.
- Use the provided cable ties to secure any loose wires.

Reinstall Components:
- Reinstall all items removed during installation.
- Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
Safety Notes:
- Warning: Do not exceed the product rating or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
- Ensure all steps are followed to guarantee proper function.
- Use a test light or connect a properly wired trailer to confirm functionality.
- The battery connection must be fuse-protected (10-amp max).
