Installation Instructions for Toyota Highlander (2020-Present)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove Underbody Panel
- Remove five fasteners securing the driver-side underbody panel.
- Lower the panel and either trim it for reinstallation or return it to the owner.
- Remove one fastener from the outermost bumper support tabs and bend the tabs down.
Step 2: Remove Rubber Plugs and Plastic Inserts
- Remove two rubber plugs from each frame rail.
- Unscrew three threaded plastic inserts from the driver-side frame rail and two from the passenger-side frame rail.
- Return all plugs and inserts to the owner.
Step 3: Remove Metal Fascia Tab
- Remove the M12 bolt securing the metal fascia tab to the passenger-side frame rail.
- Return the fascia tab and fasteners to the owner.
Step 4: Install Hitch
- Raise the hitch over the exhaust and align the holes in the hitch with the weldnuts in the frame.
- Secure the hitch using the supplied M12-1.25 hex bolts and 1/2" conical toothed washers.
- Torque all 12mm hardware to 86 ft-lbs.
- Reinstall the bumper fascia tabs removed in Step 1.
Step 5: Trim and Reattach Underbody Panel
- Mark and trim the underbody panel as needed. Use the ribs of the panel as cutting guides.
- Reattach the underbody panel using the fasteners removed in Step 1.
- Refer to the trim diagram for approximate dimensions, confirming fit prior to trimming.
Weight Carrying Capacity:
- Gross Trailer Weight (GTW): 5,000 lbs.
- Tongue Weight (TW): 500 lbs.
Safety Notes:
- Safety glasses must be worn during installation.
- Periodically inspect the hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and components are secure.
- Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Hardware List:
- (4) M12x1.25, 35mm Hex Head Cap Screws
- (4) 1/2" Conical Toothed Washers
