Installation Instructions for Hyundai Sonata
Part Numbers:

Tools Required:
- Ratchet
- Torque Wrench
- Socket, 3/4"
- Socket, 10mm
- Socket, 12mm
- 6" Socket Extension
- Fishwire, 1/2" (provided)
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Safety Glasses
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove Driver-Side Trim Panel
- Use a 10mm socket to remove two flange nuts securing the trim panel.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to remove three pop rivets.
- Remove the trim panel and return it to the owner with the hardware.
Step 2: Lower the Exhaust
- Support the exhaust before proceeding.
- Use a 12mm socket to remove two flange nuts on the passenger side.
- Carefully remove the rubber isolators to lower the exhaust.
Step 3: Remove Passenger-Side Heat Shield
- Use a 10mm socket to remove three flange nuts securing the heat shield.
- Remove the heat shield and return it along with the hardware to the owner.
Step 4: Fishwire Hardware into Frame
- Use the provided fishwire to guide the square-hole spacers (#1) and carriage bolts (#2) into the frame through the access hole.
- Leave the fishwire attached to the hardware to assist in hitch alignment.
- Repeat this process on the passenger side.
Step 5: Position and Secure Hitch
- Raise the hitch into position, aligning its holes with those on the frame rails.
- Remove the fishwire from the carriage bolts and install conical-toothed washers (#4) and hex nuts (#3).
- Ensure the toothed side of the washers face toward the hitch.
Step 6: Torque Hardware
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all 1/2” hardware to 110 ft-lbs.
- Reinstall the exhaust by securing the flange nuts and rubber isolators removed in Step 2.
Weight Carrying Capacity:
- Gross Trailer Weight (GTW): 2,000 lbs.
- Tongue Weight (TW): 200 lbs.
Safety Notes:
- Safety glasses must be worn during installation.
- Periodically inspect the hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and components are secure.
- Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
