Step 1: Remove the underbody panel
- Use a flathead screwdriver to remove four (4) push fasteners.
- Use a 14mm socket to loosen three (3) nuts securing the underbody panel.
- Return the panel and fasteners to the vehicle owner.
Step 2: Install the hitch
- Raise the hitch into position.
- Loosely secure it using six (6) M10 bolts (#1) and six (6) conical-toothed washers (#2).
- Note: Lower the exhaust if needed to ease installation.
Step 3: Tighten hardware
- Torque all M10 bolts to 48 ft-lbs.

Tools Required:

- Socket, 10mm
- Panel trim removal tool

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Locate the vehicle's battery in the engine compartment on the driver side.
- Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent accidental electrical contact. Secure the cable away from the battery during the installation.

Remove Taillight Trim and Fasteners:
- Open the rear hatch and use a panel trim removal tool to remove the taillight trim covers.
- Use a 10mm socket to remove the two bolts securing each taillight.
- Carefully pull the taillights straight back to detach them. Avoid damaging alignment tabs. Disconnect the taillight wiring connectors and set the taillights aside.

Fishwire the Wiring Harness:
- Starting on the driver side, use a fish wire to route the wiring harness from the taillight cavity to the rear bumper.
- Repeat the process on the passenger side, ensuring the fish wire does not snag on any internal components.

- Attach the yellow wire from the custom wiring harness to the driver-side taillight wiring connectors.
- Secure all connections and ensure locking tabs are fully engaged.

- Route the green wire along the rear bumper to the passenger-side taillight cavity. Secure it with cable ties.
- Attach the green wire from the custom wiring harness to the passenger-side taillight wiring connectors.

- Locate a suitable grounding point, such as an existing screw or bolt in the vehicle frame.
- If no existing point is available, drill a 3/32" pilot hole in a clean, rust-free area.
- Secure the white ground wire using the provided ring terminal and ground screw.

Mount the Converter Box:
- Locate a flat, clean surface near the driver-side taillight cavity.
- Use the provided double-sided tape to adhere the converter box securely in place.

Route and Connect the Power Wire:
- Route the black power wire from the converter box to the vehicle's battery, avoiding sharp edges, moving parts, and hot components.
- Pass the power wire through the firewall using an existing grommet or a newly installed one.
- Connect the power wire to the positive terminal of the battery, ensuring a fuse holder with a 10-amp fuse is installed (install the fuse after completing all other steps).

Secure and Test the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle near the hitch receiver.
- Secure any excess wiring with cable ties and attach the provided dust cover to protect the connector.
- Test the wiring harness using a test light, 4-flat tester, or a functioning trailer to confirm proper operation.
