Installation Instructions for Mitsubishi Outlander

Step 1: Lower the exhaust
- Remove two (2) bolts from each of the rear exhaust hanger brackets using a 13mm socket.
- Remove the rearmost middle rubber holder from the exhaust hanger.
- Support the exhaust with a stand to prevent any damage.
- The exhaust will be reinstalled in Step 2.
Step 2: Install the hitch and secure
- Raise the trailer hitch into position by sliding the driver side of the hitch over the exhaust first.
- Align the holes in the hitch with the weld nuts in the frame rail on both sides of the vehicle.
- Loosely install the hex bolts (#1) and conical-toothed washers (#2) into the hitch holes and weld nuts on both sides.
- Torque all M12 fasteners to 60 ft-lbs.
- Reinstall the exhaust removed in Step 1.

- (5) Hex bolts, M12 - 1.25 x 40mm, CL 8.8 (#1)
- (5) Conical-toothed washers, 1/2” (#2)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1 (All Vehicles)
- Locate the vehicle battery (refer to the owner's manual).
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal and secure the wire away from the battery.

Prepare Rear Hatch Area:
- Open the rear hatch.
- Remove the floor covering, cargo area cover, and both side covers.
