Installation Instructions for Honda Pilot and Acura MDX

Installation Time:
- Approximately 20 minutes (for professional installers)
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Spare Tire:
- Open the trunk and use the tools provided in the storage compartment to lower the spare tire (see Figure 2).

Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and loosely install M14 bolts (6 total) with conical washers into the weldnuts on the vehicle frame (see Figure 3).

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten all M14 CL10.9 fasteners with a torque wrench to 148 lb-ft (201 N·m).

Reinstall Spare Tire:
- Raise the spare tire back into position, ensuring it does not interfere with the hitch.
Hardware List:
- (6) M14 x 1.50 x 45mm CL10.9 Bolts
- (6) 5/8” Conical Washers
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Follow all safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle, and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Open the rear tailgate and remove cargo nets and the cargo floor hatch to access the spare tire area.
- It may be helpful to fold the rear seats forward.

Access the Relay and Fuse Box:
- Open the cover to access the relays and fuses in the junction box.
-
Connect the T-Connector:
- Remove the fuse from the supplied fuse holder.
- Route the white T-One® T-Connector end up and behind the trim panel to the junction box area.
- Plug the T-One® T-Connector into the corresponding connection in the electric junction box.
Caution:
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.
- Be careful not to damage the locking tabs, and ensure all connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

Mount the Black Box Module:
- Mount the T-One® T-Connector's black box module below the rear threshold in the spare tire compartment.
- Choose a surface that is free of moisture and mounted high enough to avoid direct contact with water or liquid substances.

Install Fuses:
- Locate the fuse panel schematic inside the box cover.
- Insert the fuses into positions 2 and 11 as shown in the diagram.
- Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder from Step 3.

Route and Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector over to the jack storage area.
- Replace the black cargo liner and store the 4-flat wire in the jack compartment when not in use.

Reinstall Removed Components:
- Reinstall the threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and any other items removed during installation.
- Be careful not to pinch or cut the wires.
Safety Notes:
- All connections must be complete for the T-One® T-Connector to function properly.
- Test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer once installed.
- Overloading circuits can cause fires. Do not exceed the product's stated ratings.
