Wiring Access Location:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower the Exhaust:
- Remove all rubber isolators behind the rear axle (two or three depending on the vehicle).
- Be careful not to let the mufflers fall under their own weight.
- Tip: Spray lubricant or soapy water on the metal hanger rod and rubber isolator to ease removal.

Install Carriage Bolts:
- Feed spacers and carriage bolts into the impact bar using the pull wires provided (both sides).
- Leave the pull wire attached for alignment.

Tape Spacers to the Hitch:
- Tape the spacers in place on the hitch before raising it into position.
- Orient spacers as shown in the diagrams.

Raise the Hitch:
- Single exhaust: Raise the hitch on the passenger side over the exhaust pipe and slowly rotate it into position.
- Dual exhaust: Slide the hitch above the tailpipes.
- Secure the hitch with conical washers and nuts.

Insert Handle Nuts:
- Bend and insert handle nuts through access holes in the frame.
- Install two (2) 1/2"-13 bolts and conical washers as shown.
- Hold handle nuts in place to prevent rotation and bend the ends out of the way.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten 1/2"-13 carriage bolts to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).
- Tighten handle nuts to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m).

Reattach the Exhaust:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and reconnect the rubber isolators.
- Note: If additional exhaust clearance is needed, bend the exhaust hanger bracket (welded to the vehicle frame) downward.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Dodge Journey AVP/CVP

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the tailgate and remove the vehicle's right-side taillight assembly by removing the two clips holding it in place.
- Carefully pry the housing away from the vehicle to avoid damaging alignment tabs.
- Repeat the process for the left-side taillight assembly.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both sides of the vehicle, locate the taillight wiring harness.
- Separate the connectors, being careful not to break the locking tabs.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors on the driver’s side.
- Lock the connectors into place securely.

Route the T-Connector Wiring:
- Route the harness containing the green wire and 4-flat connector down the opening behind the driver’s side taillight.
- Route the 4-flat harness underneath the vehicle to the center.
- Route the harness containing the green wire underneath the vehicle and up through the opening behind the passenger’s side taillight.
Warning:
- Avoid routing wires near hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or areas that may pinch or break the wire.

Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Repeat Step 3 for the passenger side using the T-Connector with the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connectors on the driver’s side.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the provided yellow fuse holder to the positive (+) battery cable using the ring terminal.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

Route the Black Wire:
- Route the black wire from the engine compartment to the rear driver’s side of the vehicle.
- Connect the black wire to the red power wire located on the T-Connector’s black box using the yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
