Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower the Spare Tire:
- Refer to the vehicle owner’s manual for instructions on lowering the spare tire.

Remove Wire Loom Retainer:
- Pull the wire loom retainer away from the inside of the right frame rail.
- Note: The retainer will not be reinserted after installation.

Position the Hitch:
- Lift the hitch into position:
- Place the right mounting bracket between the wire loom (previously pulled away) and the frame.
- Ensure the bracket is positioned above the fuel fill lines.
- Align the left mounting bracket, making sure to route the wire cable through the large notch in the side bracket between mounting holes.
- Lift the hitch into position:

Install Fasteners:
- Loosely install the M12 bolts and 1/2” conical toothed washers as shown in the instructions.

Align the Hitch:
- Pull the hitch rearward and upward to ensure the hitch receiver is level or slightly above.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all M12 x 1.75 CL10.9 fasteners to 92 lb-ft (125 N·m).

Raise the Spare Tire:
- Return the spare tire to its original position.
- Note: The spare tire may rub against the right mounting bracket of the hitch when lifting. Ensure the tire is secure after installation.

- (4) M12 x 1.75 x 45mm CL10.9 Hex Bolts
- (4) 1/2” Conical Toothed Washers

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Ford Transit Connect

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the rear door.
- Using a 6mm hex wrench, remove the two bolts securing the taillight housing.
- Carefully pry the taillight housing away from the vehicle, avoiding damage to the alignment tabs.
- Repeat for the passenger side.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver and passenger sides, locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.
- Separate the connectors, ensuring not to damage the locking tabs. Clean the connector surfaces to remove dirt.

Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Connect the T-Connector harness containing the yellow wire between the driver’s side connectors.

Install the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Repeat step 3 for the passenger side using the T-Connector with the green wire.
-
Route the Wiring Across the Vehicle:
- On the driver’s side, locate the black plug above the door hinge and remove it to expose a hole.
- Route the wires containing the green and red wires through the hole, down behind the bumper, across to the passenger side, and back up through the corresponding hole.
Warning:
- Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or areas where the wire may be pinched or broken.

Connect the Green and Red Wires:
- On the passenger side, plug the green and red wires into the corresponding connectors on the T-Connector harness.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector into the driver’s side storage compartment.
- Store it there when not in use.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate an existing ground stud near the driver’s side.
- Loosen the bolt, place the eyelet on the stud, and retighten the bolt.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the yellow fuse holder to the positive (+) battery cable using the provided ring terminal.
- Connect the black 12-gauge wire to the other end of the fuse holder using the yellow butt connector.

Route the Power Wire:
- Route the black wire through the engine compartment to the battery, avoiding areas where the wire may be pinched or damaged.

Complete Power Connections:
- Connect the black power wire from the T-Connector’s black box to the routed black wire using the yellow butt connector.
- Reconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable and insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Mount the Black Box:
- Clean a flat area behind the driver’s side taillight assembly with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water.
- Mount the black box using the provided double-sided tape.

Secure the Wiring:
- Use the silver tape provided to secure the green and red wires along cleaned areas of the vehicle.
- Notch and reinstall the black plugs removed earlier to accommodate the wires.

Reinstall the Taillight Assemblies:
- Reinstall the taillights removed in step 1.

Test the Installation:
- Test the T-Connector installation with a test light or trailer.
- Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
