Typically those trailers will use the standard 4 flat plug which is what our Wiring Kits offer. If you have an RV Fifth Wheel or any other large type of trailer you will us a 7 pin trailer plug to control your electric trailer brakes. Tekonsha offers 7 pin trailer connector as well. Simply do a search above to see if there is a 7 wire trailer wiring available for hooking up your 7 way. If there is not you can use part number 85343 trailer wiring adapter to convert any 4-Flat into a 7-Way. Prepare the Frame:
- Locate the existing holes in the vehicle frame. On some models, use the forward hole in the hitch that lines up with existing frame holes.

Install Hitch:
- Position the hitch on the vehicle, ensuring it lines up with the frame holes.
- Install carriage bolts, blocks, flat washers, and conical toothed washers as shown in Figure 1.

Secure Fasteners:
- Loosely install all bolts and blocks as necessary. Ensure proper alignment before tightening.

Tighten Bolts:
- Torque all 1/2” GR5 fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).

Optional Steps for Exhaust Modifications:
- For vehicles with thin tip exhausts, modifications to the exhaust may be necessary.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter

Wiring Access Location:
- Vehicle's tail light assemblies on both sides.
Tools Required:
- Electrical tape or tie straps (not supplied).
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove both tail light assemblies and locate the vehicle's wiring harness.
- There will be connection points on each side matching the ends of the T-connector adapter.

Partially remove the rear interior plastic trim panel on the left (driver's) side and open the vehicle's jack storage compartment to access the tail light openings.
- Remove the threshold cover plate between the rear doors.
-
Route the T-connector's harness ends containing the green and red wires out from inside the vehicle through the passenger side tail light opening.
-
Disconnect the vehicle's center black wiring harness connector from the passenger side tail light assembly.
- Note: Be careful not to damage the locking tabs.
- Plug the T-connector's harness containing the red wire between these separated halves.

Disconnect the vehicle's top grey wiring harness connector from the passenger side tail light assembly.
- Plug the T-connector's harness containing the green wire between these separated halves.

Route the yellow wire across the vehicle under the threshold cover removed in step 2.
- Route the T-connector's harness containing the yellow wire out through the bottom of the driver’s side tail light opening.
- Repeat step 4 using the harness containing the yellow wire.
