Installation Instructions for Tandem 2-Speed Landing Gear
General Installation Notes:
- Confirm no interference from the tow vehicle, tongue, ground, or other mounted accessories while stationary or in motion.
- Ensure the jack is fully retracted before towing.
- Verify the drop leg pin is fully inserted before use.
- Avoid positioning any part of the body under the product or load being supported.
- Always block wheels to prevent movement when operating the jack or coupling the trailer.
- Do not exceed the maximum rated capacity as marked on the product.
- These jacks are designed for vertical loading only; avoid excessive side forces.
- Ensure adequate bracing and gusseting are provided during installation.
- All welding must be performed by an AWS-certified welder.
Tools Required:
- Torque wrench
- Ratchet set
- 5/8”-11 grade 5 fasteners (for bolt-on applications)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Direct Mount to Load-Bearing Member:
- All welding must be performed by an AWS-certified welder.
- Place three 2-inch-long 1/4” fillet welds on both sides of the jack along the contacting surface.
- Ensure the welds are as far apart as possible to maximize load strength.
- For tandem applications, align the jacks to raise and lower together while sharing the load equally.
Bolt-On Installation:
- Use the provided mounting bracket with eight (8) 5/8”-11 grade 5 fasteners (not included).
- Torque the fasteners to 150 ft-lbs.
Drop Leg Operation:
Spring Return Drop Leg:
- Ensure the jack is not supporting any load.
- If extended, place your foot on the footplate to control the drop leg's return.
- Rotate the drop leg pin to disengage and carefully move the leg to the desired position.
- Rotate the pin back into the engaged position and ensure it is fully seated.
Non-Spring Return Drop Leg:
- Ensure the jack is not supporting any load.
- Grasp the handle of the footplate to control the drop leg as it descends.
- Rotate the drop leg pin to disengage and carefully position the leg.
- Rotate the pin back to the engaged position and ensure it is fully seated.
Maintenance:
- Lubricate the gears, bushings, and screw annually with automotive grease.
- For side-wind models, use a grease gun at the lubrication points near the input shaft.
- Apply lightweight oil to the input shaft bushings and the drop leg pin assembly.
- Keep the drop leg pin and spring clean and lubricated.
Safety Notes:
- Replace any bent, broken, or worn parts before use.
- Do not adjust the drop leg under load.
- Keep clear of pinch points during operation.
Limited Warranty:
- Coverage: 5 years against material defects in workmanship under normal use.
