Installation Instructions for Ball/Pintle Hooks ## Part Numbers: - 63016: Pintle Hook (30 Ton) - 63015: Pintle Hook (15 Ton) - 63014: Pintle Hook (10 Ton) - 63013: Pintle Hook (5 Ton) - 63012: Combination Pintle & Ball (2-5/16”) - 63011: Combination Pintle & Ball (2”) - 63010: Combination Pintle & Ball (1-7/8”) ## Tools Required: - 4 - 1/2" Grade 8 Bolts - Torque Wrench (capable of 100 ft. lbs. and 350 ft. lbs.) ## Step-by-Step Instructions: ### Mounting: 1. Ensure the mounting structure supports the rated capacity of the pintle hook in accordance with SAE J847. 2. Use the provided 4 - 1/2" grade 8 bolts and torque them to 100 ft. lbs. 3. For combination pintle hooks, torque the ball locknut to 350 ft. lbs. ### Operating Instructions: #### Pintle Hook: 1. Open the latch by removing the safety pin and lifting the latch. 2. Position the drawbar eye over the horn of the pintle and lower it into place. 3. Close the latch and insert the safety pin. #### Ball Hitch: 1. Open the latch by removing the safety pin and lifting the latch. 2. Insert the safety pin in the designated hole to retain the latch in the open position. 3. Position the ball coupler over the ball and lock it into place, following the coupler manufacturer's instructions. ## Safety Notes: - Do not lubricate threads; bolt failure may occur due to over-tightening. - Do not drill or weld to the hitch. - Do not exceed the vehicle, pintle mounting, or trailer coupler rating. - Reduce rated capacities by 25% for off-road applications. - Maintain approximately 10% of the trailer's weight as tongue load, not exceeding rated capacities. - Support the rear of the trailer during loading/unloading to avoid load shifts. - Follow all D.O.T. regulations and consult the American Trucking Association for complete coupling and uncoupling procedures. ## Maintenance: 1. Clean and inspect the equipment for proper operation every 30,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. 2. Regularly lubricate the latch and lock pivots with a light oil lubricant. 3. Periodically check all mounting bolts and ball locknuts for proper torque. 4.
