Tools Required:

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Attaching the Winch Line:
- Rope:
- Weave the rope through the drum's outer wall and secure it beneath itself.
- Strap:
- Use a grade-5 bolt of the largest possible diameter for strap mounting.
- Tighten the locknut until end play in the bolt is eliminated. Avoid over-tightening to prevent drum deformation.
- For winches with a strap anchor, pass the strap loop under the cross bolt, insert the strap anchor into the loop, and pull tight.
- Steel Cable:
- Pass the cable from the inside of the drum through a dimpled hole.
- Loop the cable around the drum bearing and under itself, leaving 1” of cable extending past the clamp location.
- Tighten clamp nuts to 2 ft-lbs.
Using the Winch:
- Letting Out Line/Load:
- Firmly grip the handle, disengage the ratchet pawl, and let out the line slowly.
- Ensure the ratchet pawl holds the load when paused.
- Taking In Line/Load:
- Engage the ratchet pawl in the forward/loading position.
- Turn the handle to wind the line onto the drum properly.
- Pause by ensuring the ratchet pawl holds the load.
- Optional Hand Brake:
- Apply the hand brake lever to help control the load while letting out the line.
Maintenance:
- Inspect the rope, strap, or cable for damage and replace if necessary.
- Apply #30 weight engine oil to bushings and ratchet pivot points.
- Maintain a thin layer of grease on the gear teeth.
Safety Notes:
- Never exceed the rated capacity marked on the winch.
- Always ensure a minimum of three wraps of line on the drum.
- Avoid using the winch for moving humans or as a tie-down during towing.
- Replace worn or damaged parts before use.
- A loud clicking sound from the ratchet must be heard when lifting the load.
