Step-by-Step Installation Instructions:

Preparation:
- Confirm there is no interference with the tow vehicle or any mounted accessories.
- Re-check for interference after installation is complete.

Mounting:
- Ensure the mounting structure supports the rated capacity of the pintle hook (SAE J849b compliant).
- Use four 1/2" diameter grade 8 bolts and torque them to 100 ft-lbs.

Combination Pintle Hooks:
- Torque the ball locknut to 350 ft-lbs.
Operating Instructions:
For Pintle Hook:
- Open the pintle by removing the safety pin and lifting the latch.
- Position the lunette eye over the horn of the pintle and lower it into place.
- Close the pintle and insert the safety pin.
For Hitch Ball/Pintle:
- Open the pintle by removing the safety pin and lifting the latch.
- Insert the safety pin into the hole to retain the latch in the open position.
- Position the coupler over the ball and lock it into place, following the coupler manufacturer's instructions.
Maintenance:
- Clean and inspect for proper operation every 30,000 miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first.
- Regularly lubricate the latch and lock pivots with a light oil lubricant.
- Check all mounting bolts and the ball locknut for proper torque.
- Replace the ball locknut if its torque falls below 70 ft-lbs.
Safety Notes:
- DO NOT lubricate threads; bolt failure may occur due to over-tightening.
- DO NOT drill or weld to the hitch.
- DO NOT exceed the vehicle or mounting rating.
- Maintain a vertical (tongue) load of approximately 10% of the trailer weight, without exceeding rated capacities.
- For off-road applications, reduce rated capacities by 25%.
