Installation Instructions for Ford 2004–2014 F-150 Adapter Kit

- Drill with 17/32” and 1” Drill Bits
- Torque Wrench
- Supplied Pull Wire for Rib Neck Bolts
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Check for Obstructions:
- Inspect the area for potential hazards such as fuel or brake lines before drilling.

Verify Compatibility:
- Ensure the trailer is equipped with a Sidewinder Pinbox Coupler if the truck has a 5.5’ bed length.
Installation:

Position Base Rails:
- Measure from the rear edge of the truck bed to the rear edge of the base rail:
- 6.5’ and 8’ Bed: 29 5/16”
- 5.5’ Bed: 27 1/16”
- Measure from the rear edge of the truck bed to the rear edge of the base rail:

Drill Holes in the Truck Bed:
- Drill through the bed sill using a 17/32” drill bit.
- Open the drilled hole in the truck bed with a 1” drill bit.
- Ensure no drilling is done within the ~4” parallel rows of spot welds.

Remove Jounce Blocks:
- Remove the jounce block from the bottom of the frame on both sides.

Install Brackets:
- Place brackets onto the frame and align:
- One of the front holes should match an existing hole in the frame.
- Drill a hole in the frame for the rearward bracket attachment.
- Place brackets onto the frame and align:

Pull Carriage Bolts:
- Use the pull wire to guide the carriage bolts with bolt plates through the hole at the bottom of the frame and into the bracket:
- For forward brackets: Use a 1” washer.
- For rearward brackets: Use a 13/16” washer.
- Use the pull wire to guide the carriage bolts with bolt plates through the hole at the bottom of the frame and into the bracket:

Reinstall Jounce Blocks:
- Replace the jounce block to its original position.

Add Center Bolts (Optional):
- For fifth-wheel setups rated at 18,000 lbs or more, install center bolts in the base rail.
Important Notes:
- Do not drill through both walls of the frame; only drill through the wall where the bracket is mounted.
- Ensure the kingpin center is approximately 1.5” forward of the axle center.
Maintenance:
- Periodically inspect and re-torque all bolts to ensure proper securement.
- Check drilled areas for corrosion and repaint if necessary.
