Mounting Instructions:
For Hitch Ball Installation:
- Remove the hitch ball from the trailer hitch.
- Place the adapter plate under the hitch if the hitch ball is needed during Canoe Loader use.
- Reinstall the hitch ball, lock washer, and hex nut. Torque to:
- 150 ft-lbs for 3/4” threads.
- 200 ft-lbs for 1” threads.
Without Hitch Ball:
- Install the hitch receiver tube directly into the hitch bar.
Attach Receiver Tube:
- Place the square head bolt through the hitch receiver tube and adapter plate.
- Secure with the lock washer and hex nut. Torque to 150 ft-lbs.
Install Adjustment Tube:
- Slide the adjustment tube into the receiver tube and secure with the lynch pin.
Assemble Cross Support Tube:
- Insert tube end caps into the cross support tube.
- Apply rubber strips to the cross support tube after cleaning and drying the surface.
Install Cross Support Tube on Upright Tube:
- Place the plastic friction disk on the upright tube bolt.
- Install the cross support tube, flat washer, and locknut. Tighten the locknut until moderate force is required to rotate the support tube.
Determine Mounting Height:
- Align the adjustment tube with the nearest holes and secure with the hex bolt and locknut.
Operating Instructions:
To Load a Canoe:
- Secure one end of the canoe onto the cross support tube and fasten with the shock cord.
- Ensure the path of travel is free from obstructions.
- Lift the canoe, rotate it towards the vehicle, and rest it on the roof support.
- Secure the front and rear of the canoe to the vehicle using ropes or straps.
- Optionally, use a ratchet strap around the canoe's center and attach a red flag to the far end.
To Unload a Canoe:
- Free the front end and lower it to the ground.
- Rotate the canoe towards the rear of the vehicle and rest it on the ground.
- Free the rear from the support bar and remove the canoe.
Safety Notes:
- Maximum Capacity: 100 lbs evenly distributed.
- Do not exceed the rated capacity of the Canoe Loader or the hitch it is installed on.
- Avoid excessive side forces and ensure the path is free of obstructions.
- Secure the canoe tightly to the vehicle. Securing only to the Canoe Loader is not sufficient for transport.
- Inspect all hardware before each use and tighten as needed.
