Installation Instructions for Cadillac SRX

Wiring Access Location:

Tools Required:
- Cut-off wheel or hacksaw, tin snips
- Wrenches: 13mm, 19mm (tighten all fasteners with torque wrench)

Notes:
- Hitch requires 5/8" pin and clip if stabilizing pin is not installed.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Lower the spare tire.
- Disconnect rubber exhaust hangers from exhaust hanger brackets, three on each side (one forward and two rearward per muffler).
- Remove existing exhaust hanger brackets, one on each side, by removing three nuts securing hanger brackets to studs in the vehicle bulkhead and unfastening retaining clips.
- Note: Exhaust hanger brackets will be reinstalled in step 6.
- Cut off two studs in the bulkhead as close as possible (see Figure 2). Do not cut off more than two studs.
- Modify heat shields as shown in Figure 3:
- Step 1: Cut heat shields as necessary to avoid interference with the hitch.
- Step 2: Bend/fold heat shields out of the way. Ensure the heat shields do not interfere with the spare tire when raised back into position.
- Re-install exhaust hanger brackets using (2) of the (3) nuts removed in step 3 on upper studs. Align square holes in brackets with retaining clips in the bulkhead.
- Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure with M12 bolts and 1/2” conical toothed washers.
- On vehicles equipped with an air pump on the passenger side frame rail, temporarily remove the pump. Use (1) 1/4" block between the pump and frame rail for proper alignment during reinstallation.
- Install M12 bolts and 1/2” conical toothed washers as shown in Figure 1.
- Tighten all M12 CL8.8 fasteners to 66 lb-ft.
- Re-connect rubber exhaust hangers (three on each side).
- Raise the spare tire back into position.

- 1/2” Conical Toothed Washers
- 1/4” Block (for vehicles with air pump only)
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Follow safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle, and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
