Installation Instructions for Jeep Compass (Rallye Package) and Jeep Patriot (Optional Tow Hook)

Wiring Access Location:

Tools Required:

• Wrenches: 22mm, 16mm (tow hook option)
• Drill Bits: 5/8” (only required for reinstalling tow hook on Patriot with optional tow hook)
• Cutting Tool: Required for trimming bumper fascia on Compass Rallye and 2011 & later Patriot/Compass.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Place M14 hex bolts into vehicle bushings from the outboard side of the frame rails. Leave bolt ends flush with the inboard side of frame rails.
2. Raise the hitch into position and push M14 hex bolts through hitch frame brackets to support the hitch.
3. Attach the remaining hardware as shown in the included diagrams.
4. For Compass Rallye Package: Use the hitch receiver tube as a guide to cut a 2 1/4” wide by 2” high section from the bumper fascia for ball mount clearance.
5. Raise the exhaust back into position if it was lowered before the hitch installation.

• Qty (2): 5/8” Conical Washer
• Qty (2): 5/8” Lock Washer
• Qty (4): M14 x 2.0 Hex Nut

Safety Notes:

• Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
• Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection.
• Do not use a torch to cut access or attachment holes.
• Ensure compliance with state safety specifications, including SAE J684.

Manufacturer Notes:

• Jeep Patriot with an optional tow hook requires removing the tow hook. If reinstalling, press/drive existing knurled neck bolts out of the hook, drill out with a 5/8” drill bit, and reattach using supplied M14 bolts.
• 2011 & Later Jeep Patriot and Compass models require fascia trimming for hitch installation. Obtain vehicle owner approval before cutting.
• Tighten all M14-2 fasteners to 100 lb-ft (136 N*m) using a torque wrench.

Additional Information:

• For Jeep Compass Rallye Package: Obtain owner approval before cutting plastic fascia.
• 2011 models require a 2” vertical fascia trim, measured from the bottom of the fascia lip.
