Installation Instructions for Ford Flex, Ford Flex EcoBoost, and Lincoln MKT

Tools Required:
- Wrenches: 18mm, 19mm
- 6" Ratchet Extension (Ford Flex)
- Spray Lubricant or Soapy Water
Wiring Access Location:
- SUV1, SUV2
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower the Exhaust:
- For single exhaust: Remove two (2) bolts attaching the exhaust hanger bracket to the driver’s side frame rail. Retain the bolts.
- For dual exhaust (EcoBoost and Lincoln MKT models): Repeat the same process on the passenger side.
- Use lubricant to ease removal of the rubber exhaust hangers and detach them using a screwdriver or pry bar.
- Support the exhaust system to prevent it from falling under its own weight.

Position the Hitch:
- Rotate the hitch into position over the exhaust.
- Align the hitch slots with the existing weldnuts on the vehicle frame.
- For models with dual exhaust: Reattach the exhaust hanger brackets beneath the hitch brackets on both sides.

Install Fasteners:
- Secure the hitch using four (4) M12 x 1.75 x 40mm bolts and four (4) conical toothed washers.
- Ensure the fasteners are hand-tightened and correctly aligned.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all M12 CL8.8 fasteners to 68 lb-ft (92 N·m).

Reinstall the Exhaust:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the rubber isolators.
- Use lubricant or soapy water to ease the reinstallation process.
Hardware List:
- (4) M12 x 1.75 x 40mm CL8.8 Hex Bolts
- (4) 1/2" Conical Toothed Washers
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Follow safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle, and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
