Installation Instructions for Range Rover Evoque

Tools Required:
- Ratchet
- Torque Wrench
- Safety Glasses
- Sockets: 10mm, 19mm, 22mm, 3/4"
- Flat Head Screwdriver
- Tin Snips
- Utility Knife
- Marker
- Tape Measure
Installation Time:
- Approximately 45 minutes (for professional installers)
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Exhaust:
- Detach 3 rubber isolators from the exhaust: 1 on the driver side and 2 on the passenger side.
- Use a spray lubricant to assist. Lower the exhaust slowly and support it to prevent damage.

Remove Rear Heat Shield:
- Trace the heat shield with a permanent marker where it touches the inside fascia near both exhaust pipes (see Figure 1).
- Remove the rear heat shield by unscrewing (4) 10mm hex bolts and (8) screws.
- Set the heat shield aside for trimming later.

Prepare Frame for Hitch Installation:
- Use the reverse fishwire technique to insert the 1/2" carriage bolt (Item 7) and block (Item 6) through the rearward access hole on the driver side frame rail.
- Leave the fishwire temporarily attached for easier hitch installation.

Trim Fascia and Heat Shield:
- Use a utility knife and tin snips to trim the fascia and heat shield.
- Trim approximately 3 7/8" wide by 1" high from the bottom of the fascia (see Figure 2).
- Reinstall the trimmed heat shield.

Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position.
- Thread the fishwire through the appropriate slot to prevent the bolt and block from being pushed into the frame.
- Install the fasteners as shown.
- Torque the fasteners as follows:
- 1/2” fastener: 75 lb-ft (102 N·m)
- M14 fastener: 100 lb-ft (136 N·m)
- M12 fasteners: 68 lb-ft (92 N·m)

Raise Exhaust:
- Lift the exhaust back into position and reattach the 3 rubber isolators.
Hardware List:
- (3) M12 x 1.75 x 40 CL8.8 Bolts
- (3) 12mm Flat Washers
- (3) 1/2” Lock Washers
- (1) M14 x 2.00 x 100 CL8.8 Bolt
- (1) 5/8” Conical Washer
- (1) 1/4” x 1” x 3” Block
- (1) 1/2”-13 x 1.75” GR5 Carriage Bolt
- (1) 1/2” Conical Washer
- (1) 1/2”-13 GR5 Hex Nut
- (1) 1/2”-13 Fishwire
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Follow safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle, and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
