Step-by-Step Instructions:
For 1998 and Newer Models with Original Equipment Trailer Hitch:
- Purchase left and right bumper brackets from a General Motors dealer (Part Numbers: 15719945 and 15719946).
- Remove the original trailer hitch.
- Install the purchased bumper brackets.
For 1998 and Newer Models Without Original Equipment Trailer Hitch:
- Remove the forward bumper bolts (4) and return them to the vehicle owner.
Hitch Installation (All Models):

Raise the hitch into position.

Install three (3) 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" carriage bolts, blocks, lock washers, and nuts on each side, as shown in the diagram.

Position the blocks as shown in the instructions.

Tighten All Fasteners:
- Torque all 1/2"-13 Grade 5 fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N*m).
Torque Specifications:
- 1/2"-13 Grade 5 Fasteners: 75 lb-ft (102 N*m)
Hardware List:
- (6) Carriage Bolts, 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" GR5
- (6) Blocks, 1/4" x 1-1/2" x 2"
- (6) Lock Washers, 1/2"
- (6) Hex Nuts, 1/2"-13
Safety Notes:
- Frequently inspect the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
- Always wear safety glasses and observe proper safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
