Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare Your Work Area
- Park your vehicle on a level surface.
- Clean the roof and door frame areas thoroughly.
Step 2: Assemble the Rails
- Attach the Bar End Caps to the ends of the RE53 Rails.
- Insert the Quarter Turn Plugs into the Position Sliders and adjust for your vehicle’s roof dimensions.
Step 3: Install the Rails on the Roof
- Place the rails at the designated positions:
- Front Rail Position (W): 10.5 in (265 mm) from the windshield edge.
- Rear Rail Position (Z): 30.0 in (760 mm) from the windshield edge.
- Tighten the quarter turn plugs to 4 Nm using the torque wrench.
Step 4: Attach the Cross Bars
- Align the 59970 Cross Bars with the installed rails.
- Secure the cross bars using the AFBH Door Frame Straps and tighten all bolts to 18 ft-lbs.
Step 5: Secure the System
- Tighten all fasteners and straps.
- Push and pull on the installed system to ensure there is no movement.
Step 6: Load and Secure Cargo
- Ensure the combined weight of the rails, cross bars, and cargo does not exceed 110 lbs (50 kg).
- Use non-stretch straps to secure the cargo firmly.
- Tie down long items (e.g., kayaks, surfboards) to both front and rear bumpers.
Maintenance:
- Inspect all fasteners, straps, and supports before each use.
- Clean the system regularly to prevent dirt buildup.
- Lubricate locks and screws periodically to ensure smooth operation.
Safety Notes:
- Avoid speeds over 50 mph (80 km/h) with the system installed.
