Installation Instructions for Electric Trailer Brake Control Wiring Adapter

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Locate the Vehicle’s Electric Brake Control Harness Connector
- Locate the electric brake control harness connector under the dashboard, to the left of the steering column.
- It will be taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
- The connector will be a 4-pin connector that matches the adapter’s connector.
Step 2: Connect the Adapter to the Brake Controller
- Plug the brake control adapter into the vehicle’s electric controller connector.
- Using butt connectors (not provided), attach the adapter’s wires to the corresponding wires on the electric brake controller.
- Follow the brake control manufacturer’s installation instructions for correct wiring.
Step 3: Mount and Test the Brake Controller
- Complete the installation as per the brake controller manufacturer’s instructions.
- Mount the brake controller unit in the desired location as directed.
- Perform all test procedures recommended by the brake controller manufacturer.
Important Notes:
- OEM Trailer Tow Package: If the vehicle is not equipped with the OEM trailer tow package, additional fuses and relays may be required to complete the output and battery feed circuits (sold separately).

Mounting Instructions:

Choose Mounting Location:
- Select a solid surface that is easy for the driver to access.
- Ensure the area behind the mounting location is clear.

Install the Bracket:
- Use the bracket as a template to mark the holes.
- Drill two (2) 1/8" holes at the marked locations.
- Secure the bracket with self-tapping screws.

Attach the Brake Control:
- Slide the Brake Control Unit into the bracket.
- Secure it with the remaining screws.
Wiring Instructions:
- Black Wire: Connect to the 12V positive terminal of the battery using a 30A auto-reset circuit breaker.
- White Wire: Connect to a clean, bare metal ground on the vehicle chassis.
