Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Saturn Vue
Part Numbers:
- 118418
Wiring Access Location:
- Rear taillight assemblies and under the vehicle near the bumper fascia.
Tools Required:
- Trim Panel Remover
- 10mm Socket & Ratchet or Wrench
- Torx-15
-
2 Phillips Screwdriver
Step-by-Step Instructions:
-
Open the rear liftgate.
- On both the driver’s and passenger’s sides of the vehicle, remove two Torx-15 screws. Carefully pull the taillight away from the vehicle, ensuring alignment pins are not damaged.
-
Locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness on both sides of the vehicle.
- The harness will have a connection point matching the ends of the T-Connector. Separate the connectors carefully, ensuring the locking tabs are not broken. Clean the connector surfaces if needed.
-
On both sides, in the taillight pocket, remove two 10mm nuts.
- Carefully pull the quarter panel slightly away from the vehicle to create clearance for the T-Connector housings and black box.
-
Partially remove the rear wheel wells and mud guards. For ease of installation, you may remove the tires and fully remove the wheel wells and mud guards.
-
From the driver’s side taillight pocket, route the T-Connector end with the green wire and the 4-flat connector through the opening exposed in the previous step.
- Use a fish wire for ease of routing between the taillight pocket and wheel well.
-
Underneath the vehicle, locate the T-Connector end with the green wire and 4-flat connector. Route both rearward to the backside of the bumper fascia.
-
Route the 4-flat connector harness to the center of the vehicle.
- Route the T-Connector end with the green wire along the backside of the bumper fascia to the passenger side taillight pocket. Temporarily disconnect the bumper fascia brackets for easier installation.
-
Ensure the wire routing avoids any hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any areas that might pinch or break the wire.
-
Mount the 4-flat connector in a suitable location under the vehicle.
-
Locate a suitable grounding point near the adapter, such as the vehicle frame or crossmember.
- Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing. Drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
-
Clean a flat area behind the driver’s side taillight assembly using a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water.
- Mount the T-Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.
-
Reinstall the quarter panel moved in step 3 and replace the 10mm nuts.
-
Plug the T-Connector end with the yellow wire into the driver’s side taillight socket and the vehicle wiring harness.
- Repeat on the passenger’s side using the T-Connector with the green wire. Ensure all connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
-
Secure all loose wires with the provided cable ties.
-
Reinstall the wheel wells, mud guards, taillights, and other items removed during installation. Ensure wires are not pinched or cut during reassembly.
