Installation Instructions for Jeep Compass (Rallye Package) and Jeep Patriot (Optional Tow Hook)

Wiring Access Location:

Tools Required:
- Wrenches: 22mm, 16mm (tow hook option)
- Drill Bits: 5/8” (only required for reinstalling tow hook on Patriot with optional tow hook)
- Cutting Tool: Required for trimming bumper fascia on Compass Rallye and 2011 & later Patriot/Compass.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Place M14 hex bolts into vehicle bushings from the outboard side of the frame rails. Leave bolt ends flush with the inboard side of frame rails.
- Raise the hitch into position and push M14 hex bolts through hitch frame brackets to support the hitch.
- Attach the remaining hardware as shown in the included diagrams.
- For Compass Rallye Package: Use the hitch receiver tube as a guide to cut a 2 1/4” wide by 2” high section from the bumper fascia for ball mount clearance.
- Raise the exhaust back into position if it was lowered before the hitch installation.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Wiring Harness

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Disconnect Battery:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle’s negative battery terminal.
- Caution: Follow all vehicle battery safety warnings.

Remove Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the tailgate.
- Remove the two clips holding the right-side taillight assembly in place.
- Carefully pry the housing away without breaking the alignment tabs.
- Repeat for the left-side taillight assembly.

Locate Wiring Connectors:
- On both sides (driver and passenger), locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.
- Disconnect the harness by carefully releasing the locking tabs.

Install T-Connector Harness:
- Starting on the driver’s side, connect the T-Connector with the yellow wire between the vehicle connectors.
- Repeat this step for the passenger side using the T-Connector with the green wire.

Route Wires:
- Route the T-Connector with the green wire and the 4-flat connector down through the opening between the bumper and body.
- Carefully route the green wire up through the opening on the passenger side.
- Avoid contact with hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any sharp edges.

Ground White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as the vehicle's frame or cross member.
- Do not drill into exposed or sensitive areas.
- Clean the surface of dirt and rustproofing.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and attach the white wire with the provided eyelet and screw.

Mount the T-Connector Black Box:
- Behind the driver’s side taillight assembly, clean a flat area with a 50/50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water.
- Mount the black box using the double-sided tape provided.

Route Battery Wire:
- Locate the red battery wire from the T-Connector black box.
- Crimp the black 12-gauge battery wire to the red wire.
- Route the black wire to the engine compartment following the vehicle’s frame.
- Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or sharp edges.

Install the Fuse Holder:
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
- Cut the fuse holder wire, attach the ring terminal, and secure it to the vehicle’s Positive (+) battery terminal.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black wire using the provided butt connector.

Reconnect Battery and Install Fuse:
- Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery terminal.
- Insert the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Test the System:
- Verify all connections using a test light or connect a trailer to ensure the system functions properly.

Secure Wires:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness.
- Ensure wires are routed away from areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wiring.

Reinstall Taillight Assemblies:
- Reattach the taillight assemblies removed in Step 2.
Warnings:
- Overloading circuits can cause fires.
- Max Stop/Turn Light: 2.1 amps per side
- Max Taillights: 4.2 amps
