Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove Underbody Panel:

   • Using a flat head screwdriver, a 10mm socket, and a 12mm socket, remove (5) rivets, (2) nuts, and (1) nut from the driver-side underbody panel.
   • Remove the panel and set it aside.

2. Lower Exhaust:

   • Use exhaust removal pliers to detach (2) rubber hangers from the rearmost points of the muffler.
   • Spray lubricant or soapy water on the hangers to ease removal.
   • Ensure the exhaust is properly supported before removing the hangers.

3. Remove Heat Shield:

   • Using a 10mm socket, remove (5) nuts securing the exhaust heat shield.
   • Remove the heat shield.

4. Install Forward Fasteners:

   • Using a flat head screwdriver, remove the plastic cover from the frame's access holes on both sides.
   • Feed the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers into the forward attachment holes through the access holes using pull wires. Leave the pull wires attached.

5. Drill Rearward Holes:

   • Raise the hitch into position and align it with the forward attachment holes and carriage bolts.
   • Use a marker to mark the drill points for the rearward hole centers on both sides.
   • Lower the hitch and drill 1/2" holes at the marked points on both sides.

6. Trim Underbody Panel and Heat Shield:

   • Measure, mark, and trim the underbody panel and heat shield using a tape measure, marker, tin snips, and utility knife as shown in the provided instructions.

7. Install Hitch:

   • Feed the remaining carriage bolts and spacers into the drilled holes using the pull wires.
   • Reinstall the heat shield with (4) nuts.
   • Raise the hitch into position, guiding the pull wires through the bracket holes.
   • Remove the pull wires and loosely install conical washers (teeth side toward hitch) and hex nuts onto the hitch.

8. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Torque all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 ft-lb (68 N*m) using a torque wrench.

9. Reinstall Exhaust and Underbody Panel:

   • Reattach the exhaust by reinstalling the rubber hangers.
   • Reinstall the underbody panel. Note: The rearmost fasteners of the underbody panel will not be reinstalled after trimming.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove Underbody Panel:

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Kia Forte Sedan

• Trim Panel Remover
• 10mm Socket & Ratchet or 10mm Wrench
• Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
• 1/4” Socket
• Wire Crimpers
• Wire Cutters
• Phillips Head Screwdriver

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Open the Trunk:

   • Temporarily remove the rear threshold plate.
   • Partially remove the felt trunk liner behind the driver-side taillight to access the wiring harness.

2. Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:

   • On the driver’s side of the vehicle, locate the taillight wiring harness.
   • Separate the connectors carefully, ensuring not to break the locking tabs.
   • Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

3. Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:

   • Insert the T-One® Connector end with the red wire between the vehicle wiring connectors.
   • Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and the locking tabs are secure.

4. Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Route the connector containing the green wire through the center grommet inside the trunk.
   • Push the green wire connector through the exposed hole to the underside of the vehicle and route it to the passenger side.
   • Insert the green wire connector between the passenger-side taillight socket and the vehicle wiring harness.

5. Secure the Wiring Underneath the Vehicle:

   • Use the provided cable ties to secure the wiring underneath the vehicle.
   • Avoid areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wire.
   • Slit the grommet with a utility knife, place the wires through the middle, and reseat the grommet. Seal the grommet with electrical tape or silicone glue (not included).

6. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as the vehicle’s frame or crossmember.
   • Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing.
   • Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

   Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

7. Route the Power Wire:

   • Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-One® Connector box.
   • Attach the provided black wire and route it along the exterior frame or existing wiring to the vehicle’s engine compartment.

   Warning: Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, or other points that may pinch or break the wire.

8. Connect to the Vehicle Battery:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder and attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable.
   • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

9. Reconnect the Battery and Test:

   • Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
   • Test the installation using a test light or trailer.

10. Mount the Black Box:

    • Locate a flat surface and mount the T-One® Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.
    • Secure the harness with the provided cable ties, avoiding areas that may pinch or cut the wire.

11. Reassemble the Vehicle:

    • Reinstall the felt trunk liner, threshold plate, and any other components removed during installation.
    • Ensure no wires are pinched or damaged.

12. Store the 4-Flat Connector:

    • Store the 4-flat connector in the trunk area when not in use.
