Installation Instructions for Hyundai Elantra (2021-Current)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Taillights:
- Open the trunk and remove the access covers.
- Using a 10mm socket, remove the nuts securing the taillights and unplug the connectors.
- Pull the taillights rearward carefully and set them aside.

Remove Underbody Panel:
- Remove the driver-side underbody panel by detaching the 10mm hex nuts and plastic push fasteners. Pull out the center post of each fastener with a small flat head screwdriver.
- Remove any rubber plugs from the frame rail if present.

Lower Muffler and Remove Heat Shield:
- Detach two rubber isolator hangers from the muffler using exhaust removal pliers.
- Remove the heat shield with a 10mm socket and trim it as shown in the instructions.

Remove Fascia/Bumper Fasteners:
- Remove screws from the taillight area and the wheel well using a Phillips screwdriver.
- Remove T30 Torx screws from the wheel well liner.
- Detach the plastic push fastener from the bottom of the wheel well at the fascia.
- Remove two bumper bolts on each side using a 15mm socket. The bumper stays attached to the fascia.

Remove Fascia/Bumper:
- Starting at the wheel wells, use trim removal tools to carefully detach the fascia. The attaching tabs are thin and fragile.
- Disconnect the electrical connector behind the fascia on the driver side and set the fascia aside.

Trim Lower Fascia:
- Mark the center of the lower fascia and trim it as shown in the instructions. Trim support ribs inside the fascia in the trimmed area as well.

Raise Hitch for Template:
- Using pull wires, install the carriage bolts and spacers into the existing access holes in the frame.
- Feed the pull wires through the forward holes on the hitch and raise the hitch into position.
- Use the hitch as a template to mark or punch the rearward hole locations.

Drill Rearward Holes:
- Lower the hitch carefully to avoid dislodging the forward bolts.
- Drill the marked holes and remove any burrs.

Install Rear Fasteners:
- Using pull wires, guide the fasteners into the drilled holes and leave the pull wires attached.
- Repeat this process on both sides of the frame.

Reinstall Heat Shield:
- Reinstall the trimmed heat shield using the original fasteners.
-
Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch back into position and guide the pull wires through the corresponding holes in the hitch.
- Secure the fasteners with conical washers (teeth side against hitch) and hex nuts.
- Torque all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N*m).

Reinstall Fascia and Exhaust:
- Reinstall the fascia in reverse order, reconnecting any electrical connectors removed earlier.
- Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the rubber hangers.

Reinstall Underbody Panel:
- Reinstall the underbody panel removed earlier using the original fasteners.

Reinstall Taillights:
- Feed the wiring back through the access holes into the trunk area and reconnect the electrical connectors.
- Secure the taillights with the original nuts.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Hyundai Elantra Sedan

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the Trunk:
- Temporarily remove the rear threshold plate.
- Partially remove the felt trunk liner behind the driver-side taillight.

Locate the Vehicle’s Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver’s and passenger’s sides, locate the taillight wiring harness.
- Disconnect the connector carefully, ensuring not to break the locking tabs.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver-side wiring connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs securely in place.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the green wire connector behind the panels and along the threshold to the passenger side.
- Plug the T-Connector end with the green wire between the passenger-side taillight socket and vehicle wiring harness.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as the vehicle’s frame or crossmember.
- Clean dirt and rustproofing from the grounding area.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

Route the Power Wire:
- Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-One® T-Connector box on the driver’s side.
- Attach the provided black wire and route it along the vehicle’s exterior frame to the engine compartment, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or damage the wire.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder (provided).
- Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure it.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black wire using the provided yellow butt connector.
Warning: Follow all warnings printed on the tow vehicle’s battery.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable and insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

- Locate a flat surface in an out-of-the-way location and mount the black box module using the provided double-sided tape.

Secure the Harness:

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Replace all panels, spare tire cover, cargo floor hatch, and cargo nets removed during installation.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
- When in use, pull the 4-flat connector through the door and close carefully, avoiding pinching the harness in the door latch.
