Installation Instructions for Dodge Dakota

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Existing Bolts:
- Remove the lower bolts from the frame mounting brackets, (2) per side.
- Retain these bolts for hitch installation.

Attach Flat Washers:
- Use tape to attach flat washers to the underside of the bumper (see Figure 2).

Insert Bumper Bracket:
- Insert the bumper bracket mounting structure between the flat washers installed in Step 2 and the bumper.
-
Position the Hitch:
- Swivel the hitch into position.
- Loosely reinstall the fasteners removed in Step 1 along with additional flat washers.

Secure Fasteners:
- Install the fasteners for the bumper bracket mounting structure as shown in the diagram.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all 3/4-10 GR5 fasteners to 260 lb-ft (353 N·m).
- Torque all M14 CL8.8 fasteners to 89 lb-ft (121 N·m).
Hardware List:
- (1) 3/4-10 x 2.75 GR5 Hex Bolt
- (1) 3/4-10 Lock Nut (with Nylon Insert)
- (6) 3/4” Flat Washers
- (8) 1/2” Flat Washers
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter

Step-by-Step Instructions:
For Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager:
- Remove the right taillight assembly from the vehicle.
- Disconnect the wire harness from the upper taillight socket.
- Caution: Be careful not to damage the connector locking tabs.
- Lay the T-Connector harness on the top of the bumper.
- Route the connectors with green, brown, and white wires to the right side of the vehicle.
- Plug the T-Connector harness connectors into the mating plugs on the taillight socket and the vehicle wiring harness.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
- Repeat this procedure for the left side of the vehicle.
- Push the 4-flat plug of the T-Connector harness behind the bumper fascia at the center of the vehicle.
- Route the remainder of the harness behind the bumper as well.
- Reinstall the taillight assemblies, positioning the wire harness between the housing and the body.
- Caution: Ensure the wires are not pinched. Secure the harness under the bumper.
- Test the installation with a test light or trailer.
For Dodge Dakota:

Remove both taillight assemblies to access the taillight connectors.
- Beginning on the left (driver’s) side, route the T-Connector harness containing the yellow wire from under the vehicle through the taillight opening.

Disconnect the vehicle’s wiring harness connector from the taillight assembly.
- Plug the T-Connector between these separated halves, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted.

Route the connector with the green wire across the vehicle along the frame.
- Run the wire out from under the vehicle through the right (passenger) side taillight opening. Repeat step 2 using the connector containing the green wire.

Reinstall the taillight assemblies removed in step 1.

Remove the Right Taillight Assembly:
- Remove the right taillight assembly from the vehicle.

Disconnect the Wire Harness:
- Disconnect the wire harness from the upper taillight socket.
