Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Factory Bolts:
- Remove (2) bolts from the outside of each frame rail as shown in Figure 2. Retain the bolts for the hitch installation.
2. Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position under the frame rails.
- Optional Step: Lowering the exhaust system may ease the installation process.
3. Reattach Bolts:
- Reinstall the M14 fasteners removed in Step 1 to secure the hitch.
4. Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all M14 CL10.9 fasteners to 148 lb-ft (200 N·m).
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent the entry of water or exhaust fumes.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always wear safety glasses and follow safety precautions when working under the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
