Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Factory Tow Loop:
- Remove (3) bolts and the factory tow loop from the passenger-side frame rail.
- Return the bolts and tow loop to the vehicle owner.
2. Install Carriage Bolts and Blocks:
- Insert (2) carriage bolts and blocks into the existing holes on the side of the frame rails.
- Adjust the carriage bolts so they are flush with the inside of the frame rails.
- Note: On the driver side, install carriage bolts by reaching between the bumper fascia and over the carbon canister.
3. Position and Secure the Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position, guiding the carriage bolts through the holes in the hitch.
- Install 1/2" conical washers (teeth side toward the hitch) and 1/2"-13 hex nuts onto the carriage bolts.
- Tip: Raise the driver side first, guiding the side bracket around the carbon canister, then raise the passenger side into position.
4. Attach Forward Fasteners:
- Loosely install M10 hex bolts with 7/16" conical washers (teeth side toward the hitch) into the existing weld nuts on the bottom of the frame rails.
5. Tighten All Fasteners:
- Torque all 1/2"-13 GR5 carriage bolts to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m).
- Torque all M10 CL8.8 bolts to 38 lb-ft (52 N·m).

- 4 × Carriage Bolts (1/2"-13 × 4.00", GR5)
- 2 × Spacer Blocks (0.25" × 1.50" × 4.00" with square holes)
- 4 × Conical Washers (1/2")
- 4 × Hex Nuts (1/2"-13)

Safety Notes:
- Always wear safety glasses during installation.
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the hitch ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the rear tailgate to access the bolts securing the taillights.
- Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the taillights on both the driver and passenger sides.
- Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle, ensuring not to damage the alignment pins.

Prepare the Wiring Area:
- Pull away the grommets on both the driver’s and passenger’s sides to access the interior of the vehicle.
- Locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness on both sides. Separate the connectors carefully without damaging the locking tabs. Clean the connector surfaces to remove dirt.

Remove Interior Panels:
- Inside the rear cargo area, temporarily remove all floor coverings, cargo trays, and the plastic threshold cover.
- Partially remove the rear interior trim panels on both the driver and passenger sides. Remove any necessary fasteners carefully to avoid damage.

Route the T-Connector:
- From inside the rear cargo area, route the T-Connector with yellow and brown wires through the grommet on the driver’s side.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver-side wiring connectors and lock it into place.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted, with locking tabs engaged. Reseat the grommet.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger side behind the panels and along the threshold.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the T-Connector end with the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point on the driver’s side near the connectors.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire with the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Locate the red 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box on the driver’s side.
- Attach the provided black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.
- Route the black wire through the taillight opening, behind the bumper, along the vehicle’s frame, and into the engine compartment up to the battery.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the ring terminal to the fuse holder and secure it to the vehicle’s positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire. Install the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Secure the Wiring:
- Secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties, ensuring it avoids areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall all removed panels, trim, and taillight assemblies, ensuring no wires are pinched or cut.

Test the Installation:
- Test and verify the installation using a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
