Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Muffler:

   • Use exhaust removal pliers to remove the rubber hangers (4 or 5 depending on the vehicle year) holding the muffler.
   • Apply lubricant or soapy water to ease the removal process.
   • Support the muffler to prevent damage.

2. Remove Rubber Plugs:

   • Remove the rubber plugs from the existing holes in the vehicle frame (2 or 3 depending on the vehicle year) on each side.

3. Enlarge Holes (If Necessary):

   • Drill the rear-most hole with a 1/2" bit and the forward-most hole with a 1/4" bit. Use a file to smooth the edges.

4. Install Fasteners:

   • Use the pull wire to guide the carriage bolts and spacer blocks through the rear-most hole and out the forward-most hole in the frame.
   • For the rear-most holes, use a reverse fish wire method to pull the fasteners into position.

5. Position Hitch:

   • Carefully raise the hitch into position, ensuring that the fasteners remain in place.
   • Install the flat washers, lock washers, and nuts onto the fasteners, ensuring that spacer blocks are positioned between the vehicle frame and the hitch at the forward-most holes.

6. Torque Fasteners:

   • Tighten all 7/16"-14 fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M).

7. Raise Muffler:

   • Reattach the muffler to its original position using the rubber hangers.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove the Taillight Assemblies:

   • Open the tailgate and remove the vehicle’s taillight assemblies.
   • Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle, ensuring not to damage the alignment pins. Set aside.

2. Route the T-Connector Harness:

   • Route the harness containing the yellow wire underneath the vehicle and up through the opening between the vehicle bumper and body to the driver’s side taillight pocket.

3. Mount the Black Box Module:

   • On the driver’s side, locate a flat, out-of-the-way surface and mount the T-Connector’s black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

4. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole.
   • Secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw. Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing before securing.

   Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to prevent damage or injury.

5. Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:

   • Separate the vehicle’s wiring connectors, being careful not to break the locking tabs.
   • Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow and brown wires between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock into place. Ensure all connectors are clean and secure.

   Warning: Ensure the module is mounted so the epoxy side faces downward to prevent water accumulation.

6. Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Route the T-Connector end with the green wire through the opening on the passenger side, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank, or other points that may pinch or break the wire.

7. Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Repeat Step 5 on the passenger side using the T-Connector end containing the green wire.

8. Connect the Power Wire:

   • On the driver’s side, locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box.
   • Attach the provided black wire and route it along the exterior frame or existing wiring to the engine compartment, avoiding areas that may pinch or break the wire.

   Warning: Avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, or fuel tank.

9. Connect to the Vehicle Battery:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder and attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable.
   • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

10. Secure the Wiring Harness:

    • Use the provided cable ties to secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

11. Reconnect the Battery and Test:

    • Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable and install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
    • Test the installation with a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

12. Reassemble the Vehicle:

    • Reinstall the plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and any other items removed during installation, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.

13. Attach the Flat-4 Mounting Bracket:

    • Attach the flat-4 mounting bracket to the trailer hitch using the provided screws and nuts.
