Installation Instructions for Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain (2018-Current)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Muffler:
- Spray lubricant on the rubber isolators to make them easier to remove.
- Remove two (2) screws from the bottom of the rear fascia using a T15 Torx bit.
- Remove two (2) bolts per exhaust hanger bracket using a 15mm socket and detach the brackets from the hanger tabs.
- Remove the rubber isolator from the hanger in front of the muffler.
- Lower the exhaust one side at a time by pulling on the rear fascia for clearance.
- On the passenger side, if additional clearance is needed, pull the wire harness off the frame and reinstall it after hitch installation.

Install Hardware:
- Feed the coiled end of the pull wire through an attachment hole in the frame and out of the access hole.
- Attach a spacer and carriage bolt to the pull wire and pull the hardware into position (three per side).
- Leave the pull wires attached until the hitch is in place to prevent the hardware from being pushed back into the frame.

Position and Secure the Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position, being careful not to push the hardware back into the frame.
- Loosely install the provided conical washers (teeth side facing the hitch) and hex nuts onto the carriage bolts.

Reattach Exhaust:
- Raise the muffler back into place and reattach the brackets and rubber isolators by reversing the steps from Step 1.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 ft-lb (68 N*m).
Torque Specifications:
- 7/16"-14 GR5 bolts: 50 ft-lb (68 N*m)

- (6) Carriage Bolts, 7/16"-14 x 1.50" GR5
- (6) Spacer Blocks, 1/4" x 7/8" x 3"

Safety Notes:
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for GMC Terrain

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the rear tailgate and access the bolts holding the taillights.
- Remove the two Torx T10 screws on both driver and passenger sides.
- Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle, ensuring not to damage the alignment pins. Set the housings aside.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both sides of the vehicle, locate the taillight wiring harness matching the T-One® Connector ends.
- Disconnect the connectors carefully, ensuring not to break the locking tabs. Clean all connector surfaces of dirt.

Mount the T-One® Black Box:
- Underneath the vehicle, determine a suitable mounting point behind the rear bumper fascia on the driver’s side.
- Mount the T-One® Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.
- Ensure the module's epoxy side faces downward to prevent water accumulation.

Route the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire between the bumper and vehicle body to the driver’s side taillight pocket.
- Connect the yellow wire end between the taillight socket and vehicle wiring harness.

Route and Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-One® Connector end with the green wire underneath the bumper to the passenger side.
- Route the green wire through the passenger-side opening, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, or the fuel tank.
- Connect the green wire end between the taillight socket and the vehicle wiring harness.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as the vehicle frame.
- Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area, drill a 3/32” hole, and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

Route the Power Wire:
- On the driver’s side, locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-One® Connector box.
- Attach the provided black wire and route it along the vehicle's frame or existing wiring to the engine compartment.
Warning: Avoid hot pipes, heat shields, or areas that may pinch the wire.

Connect to the Battery:
- Disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
- Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer.

Secure the Wiring Harness:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the T-One® Connector harness, avoiding areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall the taillight assemblies, threshold, storage covers, and any removed components, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector underneath and to the center of the vehicle.
- Mount the 4-flat connector in an accessible location using a bracket or electrical box (not included).
