Installation Instructions for 2019-Current Audi Q3

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Trim Bumper Fascia:
- Measure to find the center of the fascia. Mark a centerline on the bottom of the fascia and trim as shown in Figure 2.
- Mark a centerline on the vertical portion of the fascia and trim as shown in Figure 3. Do not trim away the bottom edge.
- If not using trailer wiring, the trimmed area can be 3.25” on each side of the centerline. Dimensions are approximate and can be adjusted for fit and aesthetics.

Remove Excess Caulk:
- Remove excess caulk from the frame rails in the hitch installation area.

Lower Exhaust:
- Lower the exhaust by removing two bolts from each rear exhaust hanger bracket (one per side) using a 13 mm socket.
- Support the exhaust to avoid damage.

Install Hardware:
- Using the provided fish wire, install carriage bolts and spacers (items 1 and 2) through the access holes in the vehicle frame. Repeat on both sides.
- Keep the hardware inside the frame until the hitch is in position. Keep the fish wire attached to the hardware.

Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position over the exhaust and move it forward so the receiver clears the bottom edge of the fascia.
- Align the holes in the hitch with the holes in the vehicle frame and pull bolts through the attachment holes.
- Install conical washers (teeth side toward hitch) and nuts onto the bolts.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten all 7/16” fasteners with a torque wrench to 50 ft-lbs (68 Nm).

Reinstall Exhaust:
- Reinstall the rubber hangers and exhaust muffler.

- (4) Spacer .109” x .88” x 2” (Part #: 1204)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Tow Vehicle Inputs - Determination:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Warning: Read and follow all warnings and instructions on the tow vehicle's battery.
- Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
- Caution: Use appropriate gauge wire splices. Blue taps are for 16-18 gauge wires only.
Harness Installation:
- Determine the mounting location of the module and secure it using the double-sided tape provided.
- Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the module, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole to secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.
- Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal. Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15 amp fuse yet.
- Caution: Ensure the module is connected to a constant power source and avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or pinch points.
Completion:
- Secure the harness with cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
- Insert the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and close the cap.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Check each function independently and in combination.
