Installation Instructions for Ford Edge / Lincoln MKX (Fits Edge Sport with Fascia Trimming)
Part Numbers:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower the Exhaust:
- Remove the rear (3) exhaust hangers to lower the exhaust.
- Use wire to temporarily hold the exhaust up high enough to prevent damage.
- Refer to the Rubber Isolator Removal Diagram.

Remove and Modify Heat Shield:
- Remove the heat shield on both sides by removing the (3) 6mm bolts and (1) black plastic plug.
- Trim off the heat shield tab as shown in the Heat Shield Tab Removal Diagram.
- Reattach the heat shield without the screws in the frame rails.
- The heat shield will be sandwiched between the frame rails and the hitch during installation.

Fishwire Hardware into Position:
- Fishwire the 1/2"-13 x 1-1/2" carriage bolts and CM-SP19 square hole spacers through the rear bumper mounts and into the holes in the frame rails.
- Refer to the Fishwire Technique Diagram for guidance.

Raise Hitch into Position:
- Lift the hitch into place.
- Secure it with 1/2" flange nuts on the fishwired bolts.
- Note: Bumper fascia trimming is required for Edge Sport models. Refer to the Fascia Trim Diagram.

Drill Rear Holes:
- Using the hitch as a template, drill the rear holes on both sides using a 17/32" drill bit.

Fishwire Additional Hardware:
- Fishwire the 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" carriage bolts and spacers through the rear bumper mounts and attach with 1/2" flange nuts.

Torque Fasteners:
- Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft.

Reinstall Exhaust:
- Reattach the exhaust hangers removed in Step 1.

- (2) 1/2"-13 UNC Carriage Bolts, 1-1/2"
- (4) 1/2"-13 UNC Flange Nuts

Wiring Location:
- Driver Side: Behind the driver-side taillight housing (S1).
- Passenger Side: Behind the passenger-side taillight housing (S2).
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Access the Taillights
- Open the vehicle tailgate to access the taillight assemblies.
-
Remove the Taillights
- Remove the two 10 mm bolts securing each taillight in place.
- Gently pull the taillight outward to remove it.
-
Locate the Wiring Harness Connectors
- Behind the taillights, locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness connectors.
- Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs.

Prepare the Grommets
- Remove the rubber grommets located on both sides of the vehicle between the taillight and the interior.
- Use a utility knife to make a small slit in each grommet from the center to the outside.

Prepare the Vehicle Interior
- Remove all floor coverings, the rear scuff panel, and the spare tire compartment cover.
- Remove all plastic storage trays surrounding the spare tire.

Connect the Driver-Side Wiring Harness
- On the driver side, route the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire out to the taillight by going under the rear trim panel and up through the removed grommet.
- Insert the wiring harness between the separated connectors, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

Ground the White Wire
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame, or drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw.
- Ensure the area is free of rust, dirt, and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Warning: Check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under surfaces before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.

Mount the Converter Box
- Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight.
- Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

Route the Black Power Wire
- Route the black power wire from the vehicle battery as described in the included CME-PCL-INS sheet.

Connect the Passenger-Side Wiring Harness
- Route the custom wiring harness end with the green wire to the passenger side behind the removed scuff panel.
- Repeat Steps 4–6 on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire.

Route the 4-Flat Connector
- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle.
- When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location.
- Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.

Reinstall Components
- Reinstall all items removed during installation.
- Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.

- The battery connection must be fuse-protected (10 amps max).
