Installation Instructions for RAM ProMaster Van (2014-Present)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove the bumper cover
- Open the rear vehicle doors to expose the bumper cover and fasteners.
- Using a T30 Torx Bit, remove (8) fasteners and the bumper cover.
- Note: If present, disconnect the rear back-up sensor before completely removing the bumper cover.
Step 2: Remove the bumper beam
- Remove (2) M10 bolts and (1) M10 nut securing the bumper beam to the end of the frame on both sides.
- Use a 16mm socket for the M10 bolts and a 15mm socket for the M10 nuts.
Step 3: Fishwire the hardware
- Fishwire the 1/2" carriage bolts and (2) SP6 spacers through the access holes and out the existing holes in the bumper beam.
Step 4: Attach the hitch
- Align the center holes of the hitch with the bolts fishwired in the bumper beam and loosely secure with 1/2" flange nuts.
- Raise the hitch and bumper beam into position by aligning the hitch and bumper beam holes with the holes in the end of the frame.
- Secure with the provided M10-1.25 x 30mm hex flange bolts and the M10 nuts removed in Step 2.
Step 5: Torque the hardware
- Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs.
- Torque all M10 hardware to 48 ft-lbs.
Step 6: Reinstall the bumper cover
- Reinstall the bumper cover using the fasteners removed in Step 1.
- Note: If present, reconnect the back-up sensor. Gently flex the bumper cover to align with fastener holes.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Locate and Disconnect the Battery
- Locate the vehicle battery under the driver-side floor panel.
- Turn the six fasteners securing the floor panel to remove it.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety while working on the vehicle's electrical system.
Step 2: Access the Driver-Side Taillight Wiring Harness
- Open the rear cargo doors.
- Remove the seven Phillips screws from the plastic cover on the driver side to expose the taillight wiring harness connectors.
- Carefully separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs.
Step 3: Install the Custom Wiring Harness (Driver Side)
- Take the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire.
- Insert it between the separated connectors on the driver side.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and the locking tabs are securely in place.
Step 4: Secure the Ground Wire
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connectors, such as an existing screw with a nut in the vehicle frame.
- If necessary, drill a 3/32" pilot hole into a clean, rust-free, and paint-free area.
- Secure the white ground wire using the provided ring terminal and screw.
Safety Note: Before drilling, inspect the area to ensure no components are hidden behind or beneath the surface to avoid damage or injury.
Step 5: Install the Wiring Harness on the Passenger Side
- Route the custom wiring harness end with the green wire to the passenger side through the opening that runs up and over the rear cargo doors.
- Follow Steps 2–3 on the passenger side to connect the harness to the taillight wiring.
Step 6: Mount the Converter Box
- Inside the vehicle on the driver side, locate a flat spot on the upper corner inside the rear cargo door frame.
- Use the provided double-sided tape to securely adhere the black converter box to this location.
Step 7: Remove Trim Panels to Route Power Wire
- Starting on the back side of the driver seat, remove the Phillips screws securing the plastic seat belt trim panel.
- Remove all plastic trim panels around the driver-side seat and floor, including those at the seat base and floor edges, to expose the wiring path.
Step 8: Route the Power Wire to the Battery
- Route the black power wire from the converter box along the top of the driver-side cargo area.
- Guide the wire down along the frame behind the driver seat and continue routing it beneath the seat.
- Secure the wire along the bottom of the driver-side seat frame, ensuring it avoids sharp edges and moving parts.
- Pass the wire under the floor panel section and connect it to the battery.
Note: Refer to the included CME-PCL-INS sheet for a visual guide on routing the power wire.
Step 9: Position the 4-Flat Connector
- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle for trailer connection.
- When not in use, roll up the connector and store it in a secure, out-of-the-way location inside the cargo area.
- Use the provided cable ties to secure any loose wires.
Step 10: Finalize Installation
- Reinstall all removed trim panels, covers, and components.
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal to restore the vehicle’s electrical system.
- Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to protect the connector from dirt and corrosion.
