Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Disconnect the Battery
- Locate the vehicle battery on the driver side under the hood.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety during the installation.
Step 2: Remove the Rear Cargo Components
- Open the tailgate and remove all trunk floor coverings and storage trays.
Step 3: Remove the Rear Scuff Panel
- Remove the two cargo tie-downs and three fasteners securing the scuff panel.
- Pull out on the bottom of the panel, then lift it upward to remove it, being careful not to damage the alignment tabs.
Step 4: Remove the Trim Panels
- On the driver side, remove the push fastener from the upper trim panel.
- Pull back the upper trim panel to locate the fastener holding the lower trim panel in place.
- Remove the fastener for the lower trim panel and pull back the lower trim panel to locate the taillight wiring harness.
Step 5: Disconnect the Driver-Side Wiring Harness
- Locate the taillight wiring harness connectors behind the driver-side access panel.
- Carefully disconnect the connectors from the taillight housing, ensuring the locking tabs are not damaged.
Step 6: Install the Custom Wiring Harness (Driver Side)
- Insert the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and the locking tabs are securely in place.
Step 7: Secure the Ground Wire
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the wiring harness connection, such as an existing screw with a nut in the vehicle frame.
- If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole in a clean, rust-free, and paint-free area.
- Attach the white ground wire using the provided ring terminal and screw.
Safety Note: Inspect for hidden components before drilling to avoid damage or injury.
Step 8: Mount the Converter Box
- Locate a flat, clean spot inside the vehicle near the taillight.
- Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.
Step 9: Install the Passenger-Side Wiring Harness
- Route the custom wiring harness end with the green wire to the passenger side behind the removed scuff panel.
- Repeat Steps 4–6 to connect the passenger-side wiring harness.
Step 10: Route the Power Wire
- Route the black power wire from the converter box to the vehicle battery as shown in the included CME-PCL-INS sheet.
- Secure the wire along its route using the provided cable ties, avoiding pinch points, sharp edges, and hot or moving components.
Step 11: Position the 4-Flat Connector
- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle for trailer connection.
- When not in use, roll up the connector and store it in a convenient location inside the trunk.
- Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
Step 12: Finalize Installation
- Reinstall all components, including panels, trim, and coverings, removed during installation.
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal to restore the vehicle’s electrical system.

Part 1: Install the 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Mount the Adapter:
- Choose a suitable mounting point on the vehicle, typically near the hitch.

Connect the 4-Flat Plug:
- Plug the 4-flat connector on the adapter into the existing 4-flat plug on the vehicle.
