- 3/8" Drive Ratchet

- 3/8" Drive Torque Wrench

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove frame plugs.
- Remove four plugs from the frame rails and discard them. Leave the center plugs in place.
Step 2: Fishwire bolts and spacers into position.
- Fishwire 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers through the access holes and into position.
- Reverse fishwire 1/2" carriage bolts and spacers into position afterward.
- Enlarge the access holes if necessary to allow the hardware to pass through.
Step 3: Raise the hitch into position.
- Align the hitch holes with the bolts in the frame.
- Use 1.50" x 2.00" spacers to level the hitch as needed.
- Take care not to push the bolts back into the frame.
Step 4: Install remaining hardware.
- Secure the hitch using the supplied hardware as shown in the manual.
Step 5: Torque the fasteners.
- Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 70 ft-lbs.
- Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 ft-lbs.

Step-by-Step Process:
Step 1: Disconnect the Battery
- Locate the vehicle battery on the driver side under the hood.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Step 2: Prepare the Trunk Area
- Open the vehicle tailgate and remove all trunk floor coverings and storage trays.
- Remove the fasteners securing the rear storage tray.
Step 3: Remove the Rear Scuff Panel
- Remove the fasteners securing the rear scuff panel.
- Pull the scuff panel out from the bottom and lift upward to remove it.
Step 4: Remove Driver-Side Taillight
- On the driver side, remove the two Phillips screws securing the taillight housing.
- Gently pull the taillight rearward and out.
- Disconnect the taillight wiring harness connectors, ensuring not to damage the locking tabs.
Step 5: Modify the Grommet
- Remove the grommet behind the taillight where the wires pass through from the trunk to the taillight.
- Cut a small slit in the grommet to route the CURT wiring harness.
Step 6: Connect the T-Connector on Driver Side
- Route the CURT wiring harness end with the yellow wire out from the trunk through the slit in the grommet to the taillights.
- Insert the yellow wire connectors between the separated taillight connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are securely locked in place.
Step 7: Ground the White Wire
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the taillight connector, such as an existing screw with a nut on the vehicle frame.
- If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw.
- Clean the grounding area of rust, dirt, or paint, and secure the white ground wire using the provided ring terminal and screw.
Step 8: Mount the Converter Box
- Locate a flat, clean surface near the taillight, protected from road spray and debris.
- Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.
Step 9: Route the Power Wire
- Route the black power wire from the vehicle's battery as shown in the included CME-PCL-INS sheet.
Step 10: Connect the T-Connector on Passenger Side
- Route the green wire of the CURT wiring harness to the passenger side behind the removed scuff panels.
- Repeat Steps 4-6 on the passenger side using the green wire.
Step 11: Position the 4-Flat Connector
- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle.
- When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient location.
- Secure loose wires with the provided cable ties.
Step 12: Reassemble and Test
- Reinstall all items removed during the installation process.
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to protect against corrosion.
Safety Notes:
- Ensure the battery connection is fuse-protected (10-amp max).
- Do not exceed the product rating or the vehicle lamp load rating.
