Installation Instructions for Trailer Jack
General Installation Notes:
- Read and follow all instructions before installation or use.
- Ensure mounting hardware is properly torqued and periodically checked.
- Do not exceed the rated capacity of the jack. Refer to product markings or decals for rated capacity.
- Always replace bent, broken, or worn parts before use.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable before installation to avoid accidental electrical shock or system damage.
- Ensure all welding is performed by an AWS-certified welder.
Tools Required:
- Torque wrench
- Ratchet set
- 1/2" grade 5 bolts or U-bolts
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Preparing the Trailer:
- Support the trailer by connecting the coupler to the towing vehicle or using jack stands.
- Chock the trailer wheels to prevent movement.
Mounting the Jack:
- Option 1: Bolt-On Installation
- Attach the jack directly to the trailer frame using four (4) 1/2" grade 5 bolts, one on each side of the two mounting plates.
- Torque hardware to 50 ft-lbs.
- Option 2: U-Bolt Installation
- Use four (4) U-bolts, utilizing eight holes on the mounting plates (two on the upper section and two on the lower).
- Torque hardware to 50 ft-lbs.
- For aluminum trailers, use isolation pads to reduce galvanic corrosion.
Battery Connection:
- Connect the battery leads directly to the trailer battery:
- Red lead to the positive terminal.
- Black lead to the negative terminal.
- Secure the battery leads with cable ties or wire loom to prevent chafing.
Operating the Jack:
- To extend the jack and raise the trailer, push the toggle switch to "EXT."
- To retract the jack and lower the trailer, push the toggle switch to "RET."
Manual Override:
- Remove the cap on top of the plastic cover.
- Insert a 3/4" hex socket into the manual override port.
- Turn clockwise to extend the jack or counterclockwise to retract.
Maintenance:
- The jack motor is sealed and maintenance-free.
- Ensure the electrical system, including the battery and charger, is in good condition.
- Tighten connections and keep them free of corrosion.
- Fully charge the battery before use.
- Clean the jack with mild soap and water; avoid high-pressure water sprays.
Safety Notes:
- Fully retract and rotate the jack before towing.
- Always use the jack on stable, level ground.
- Avoid excessive side forces to prevent jack failure.
Limited Warranty:
- Coverage: 5 years for specified products; 1 year for others.
- Exclusions: Normal wear and tear, misuse, overloading, improper installation, and unauthorized modifications.
