To select the right winch capacity, consider the weight of your boat, including the motor, fuel, and gear. Follow these guidelines:
- Minimum Winch Capacity = Maximum Weight of Boat, Including Motor, Fuel, Gear ÷ 2
- If shallow water or steep inclined launches are expected, divide the maximum weight by 1.5
