Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Plastic Cover Panel:
- Detach the plastic cover panel from underneath the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Remove Tow Hooks (if present):
- Detach the tow hooks and return them along with their fasteners to the vehicle owner.

Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and install the provided fasteners into the existing weldnuts on the frame.

Torque Fasteners:
- Tighten all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 35 Lb.-Ft. (47 N*M) using a torque wrench.

Trim Plastic Cover Panel (if needed):
- Obtain the vehicle owner’s approval before cutting.
- Enlarge the tow hook slot on the plastic cover panel to fit around the driver’s side bracket.

Reinstall or Return Cover Panel:
- Reinstall the trimmed cover panel removed in Step 1.
- If not trimmed, return the unaltered panel to the vehicle owner.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Toyota Prius

Wiring Access Location:
- Rear taillight wiring harness in the cargo area.
Tools Required:
- Trim Panel Remover
- 10mm Socket & Ratchet or Wrench
- Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
- 1/4” Socket
- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters
- Philips Head Screwdriver
- Test Probe
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Access the Vehicle’s Rear Wiring:
- Open the trunk or hatch and locate the vehicle wiring inside the rear cargo area.
- Partially remove the plastic threshold cover, side access panels, carpet panels, and cargo trays.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver’s and passenger’s sides, locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.
- Separate the connectors carefully to avoid breaking the locking tabs.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Install the T-Connector:
- On the passenger side, insert the T-Connector end with the green wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock it into place.
- Route the T-Connector end with the yellow wire to the driver’s side behind the panels and along the threshold. Repeat this step for the yellow wire on the driver’s side.

Ground Connection:
- On the passenger side, locate a suitable grounding point near the connector.
- Option 1: Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing. Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Option 2: Use an existing ground stud by loosening the bolt, placing the screw eyelet on the stud, and retightening the bolt.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Connect to the Battery:
- Locate the vehicle’s 12-volt battery inside the cargo area on the passenger side under the floor covering.
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery terminal.
- Attach the fuse holder (with the fuse removed) to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery terminal and install the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Mount the T-Connector Black Box:
- On the passenger side, mount the T-Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties to prevent damage or rattling. Avoid areas where the wires could be pinched or cut.

- Reinstall all removed plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and other items.
- Ensure no wires are pinched or exposed during reassembly.
