Installation Instructions for Kia Soul

Wiring Access Location:

• SUV3, SUV4

Tools Required:

• Torque Wrench
• Wrenches/Sockets: 17mm
• Phillips Screwdriver
• Drill Bits: None

Specifications:

• Max Gross Trailer Weight: 2,000 lb. (908 kg)
• Max Tongue Weight: 200 lb. (90.8 kg)
• Note: Do not exceed the towing vehicle manufacturer’s rating.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Exhaust:

   • Remove the rubber exhaust hanger to lower the exhaust.

2. Remove Inner Wheel Well and Splash Guards:

   • Detach the inner wheel well and splash guards on both sides of the vehicle.

3. Remove Tow Hook:

   • Remove the tow hook from the passenger-side frame rail and return it to the vehicle owner.

4. Raise Hitch into Position:

   • Raise the hitch into position and loosely install the M10 bolts and conical toothed washers as shown in the diagram.

5. Pull Hitch Rearward and Tighten Fasteners:

   • Pull the hitch rearward and tighten all fasteners using a torque wrench to the specifications below:
     • Torque all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 42 Lb.-Ft. (57 N*M).

6. Reinstall Muffler Hanger:

   • Reattach the muffler hanger.

7. Reinstall Inner Wheel Well and Splash Guards:

   • Reinstall the inner wheel well and splash guards that were removed earlier.

Hardware List:

• (4) Hex Bolts: M10 x 1.25 x 30mm CL8.8
• (4) Conical Toothed Washers: 3/8”

Safety Notes:

• Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure they are securely tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
• Always observe safety precautions and wear eye protection when working beneath the vehicle.
• Do not use a torch to cut access or attachment holes.

Drawbar:

• Drawbar Kit: 3593
• Important: The drawbar must be used in the rise position only.
