Installation Instructions for Volkswagen Passat
Note: Lower fascia panel will need to be trimmed.

Specifications:
- Max Gross Trailer Weight: 2,000 lb. (908 kg)
- Max Tongue Weight: 200 lb. (90.8 kg)
- Note: Do not exceed the towing vehicle manufacturer’s rating.
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare Vehicle:
- Remove the spare tire from the trunk.
- Remove the two (2) rearward drain plugs and return them to the vehicle owner.

Remove Appearance Panel (if applicable):
- If present, remove the passenger-side appearance panel.
- Note: Do not remove the canister on diesel models.

Detach Fascia Panel:
- Remove three (3) Torx screws and clips.
- Loosen or remove the lower fascia panel by inserting a small screwdriver into the slot, twisting gently, and applying light pressure.

Trim Lower Fascia Panel:
- Mark the trimming area using tape or a marking pencil.
- Drill 1/4” holes at the corners to assist with trimming. Cut the panel as shown in Figure 1.

Lower Exhaust:
- Remove the two (2) hex bolts securing the exhaust hanger.

Install Bolt Plates:
- Place the bolt plates on top of the bumper rails.
-
Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position. Slide the passenger side under the panel and move it into place before raising the driver's side.

Attach Fasteners:
- Insert hex bolts and conical washers into the bolt plate and loosely install the hardware.
- Insert carriage bolts and spacers into the trunk drain holes. Use silicone sealant to ensure a watertight seal.

Secure Hitch:
- Seal around the trunk pan connection and install conical washers and hex nuts.

Tighten All Fasteners:
- Torque all 1/2” fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M).

Reassemble Vehicle:
- Reinstall the lower fascia panel, aligning the slot and pushing gently into position.
- Reattach the Torx screws and clips.
- Replace the appearance panel, if applicable.
- Reattach the exhaust system.
- Replace the spare tire in the trunk.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter

Wiring Access Location:
- Near the rear of the vehicle, behind the bumper, or as indicated for vehicle-specific configurations.
Tools Required:
- Drill with a 3/32" drill bit.
- Phillips head #2 screwdriver.
- Wire cutters, wire strippers/crimpers.
- Tester or volt meter.
- Socket and ratchet set.
- Double-sided tape (provided).
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Installation of the Module:

Determine the mounting location for the module.
- Use the provided double-sided tape to secure the module.
- Ensure the epoxy side of the module faces downward to prevent water buildup.

Connect the module’s black wire to a 12-gauge (or larger) power wire using a yellow butt connector.

Locate a suitable grounding point near the module:
- Drill a 3/32" hole if necessary and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and self-tapping screw.
- Clean the grounding area of dirt and rustproofing.
Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.
Routing Power to the Battery:

Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal:
- Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15-amp fuse yet.

Finalizing Installation:
