Installation Instructions for Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage

Tools Required:

• Wrenches: 13mm, 14mm, 17mm
• Drill Bits: None

Wiring Access Location:

• Kia Sportage (4 Cyl. Models): SUV1, SUV2
• Kia Sportage (6 Cyl. Models): SUV5
• Hyundai Tucson: SUV1, SUV2

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower the Exhaust:

   • Remove two (2) rubber exhaust hangers on the driver’s side and one (1) on the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

2. Remove Tow Hook Bracket:

   • Remove the tow hook bracket by detaching five (5) M10 bolts.
   • Return the bracket and fasteners to the vehicle owner.

3. Install the Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position.
   • Secure it with four (4) M10 x 1.25 x 40mm bolts and conical toothed washers, two (2) per side.

4. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Use a torque wrench to tighten all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 42 lb-ft (57 N·m).

5. Reinstall Exhaust:

   • Raise the exhaust back into position and reinstall the rubber isolators.

Hardware List:

• (4) M10 x 1.25 x 40mm CL8.8 Hex Bolts
• (4) 3/8" Conical Toothed Washers

Safety Notes:

• Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
• Follow all safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle, and wear eye protection.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
