Mounting Bracket Instructions:

Determine a suitable mounting point on the tow vehicle for the connector or use an existing mount. Ensure the trailer’s wire harness has sufficient length to reach this point.
Secure the mounting bracket on the rear of the tow vehicle or to the plate attached to the hitch cross tube using the self-tapping screws provided.
- Caution: Do not drill into the hitch cross tube to avoid damage to the hitch or personal injury. Do not drill into any exposed surfaces. Refer to the hitch owner’s manual or instruction sheet for recommendations and limitations.

Socket Instructions:

Install the 7-way Blade Socket (connector) onto the mounting bracket using the screws and nuts provided.
Plug the OEM factory-equipped car-end socket harness into the 7-way Blade Car Socket.
Insert the 4-flat connector into the slot in the bracket.
Tighten all screws securely.

Step 1: Locate the Vehicle’s Electric Junction Box

Find the black Electric Junction Box inside the vehicle:
- Under the dashboard, left of the steering column, just above the carpet.
Remove the cover of the Electric Junction Box.
Locate the connection point for the electric trailer brakes in the top row, second slot from the left.

Step 2: Plug the Brake Control Adapter into the Vehicle Connector

Plug the brake control adapter into the mating connection point inside the Electric Junction Box.
Use a circuit tester to verify that battery (+) power is supplied to the adapter.

NOTE:

Not all vehicles are pre-wired with complete power connections to the battery and/or wiring for electric trailer brakes.
If power is already supplied, skip to Step 4.

Step 3: Add Power Supply (If Required)

For vehicles with no power supply:

Use an Electric Brake Control Wiring Kit and route all wires as described in the wiring kit instructions or as follows:

A. Vehicle Brake Control Feed Wire (Blue):
- Open the vehicle’s hood and locate the black Electrical Center Box on the driver’s side.
- Remove the cover to access the blue brake control feed wire.

Installation Steps:

Step 1: Selecting a Mounting Location

Choose a secure, solid surface that is easily accessible to the driver.
Ensure the area behind the panel is clear to avoid damage during drilling.

Step 2: Install the Mounting Bracket

Hold the mounting bracket in the selected position and mark the hole locations.
Drill holes with a 1/8” drill bit.
Secure the bracket using (2) self-tapping screws (provided).
Mount the Brake Control unit into the bracket with the remaining screws.

Adjusting Power to the Trailer Brakes:

Connect the trailer to the tow vehicle.
With the engine running, hold the Manual Slide Control fully to the left and set the Output (Gain) Control to approximately 5.0.
Drive at 25 mph on a level, dry, paved surface.
Fully apply the Manual Slide Control:
- If the trailer brakes lock up: Decrease the power using the Output/Gain Control.
- If braking is insufficient: Increase the power.
Repeat until braking is sufficient but just below wheel lock-up.
Test braking using the brake pedal at low speeds.

Boost Control:

The Boost feature increases braking aggressiveness with three levels:

b.1: Boost Level 1 – Starts braking at 14% power.
b.2: Boost Level 2 – Starts braking at 28% power.
b.3: Boost Level 3 – Highest boost setting for heavy loads.

To Activate Boost:

Press the Boost Button to display the current level.
Use the + or - buttons to adjust.

Troubleshooting:

Installation Steps:

Step 1: Selecting a Mounting Location

Choose a secure, solid surface that is easily accessible to the driver.
Ensure the area behind the panel is clear to avoid damage during drilling.

Step 2: Install the Mounting Bracket

Hold the mounting bracket in the selected position and mark the hole locations.
Drill holes with a 1/8” drill bit.
Secure the bracket using (2) self-tapping screws (provided).
Mount the Brake Control unit into the bracket with the remaining screws.

Adjusting Power to the Trailer Brakes:

Connect the trailer to the tow vehicle.
With the engine running, hold the Manual Slide Control fully to the left and set the Output (Gain) Control to approximately 5.0.
Drive at 25 mph on a level, dry, paved surface.
Fully apply the Manual Slide Control:
- If the trailer brakes lock up: Decrease the power using the Output/Gain Control.
- If braking is insufficient: Increase the power.
Repeat until braking is sufficient but just below wheel lock-up.
Test braking using the brake pedal at low speeds.

Boost Control:

The Boost feature increases braking aggressiveness with three levels:

b.1: Boost Level 1 – Starts braking at 14% power.
b.2: Boost Level 2 – Starts braking at 28% power.
b.3: Boost Level 3 – Highest boost setting for heavy loads.

To Activate Boost:

Press the Boost Button to display the current level.
Use the + or - buttons to adjust.

Troubleshooting:

Issue	Cause	Solution
No Display	Power or ground wire issue.	Check black and white connections.
Flashing Display (2/sec)	Overload or short on the brake wire.	Inspect trailer brake wiring.
Braking Too Aggressive	Output set too high.	Reduce Output/Gain setting.
No Braking	Output set too low.	Increase Output/Gain setting.
Blank Display (Idle)	Power-saving mode (after 15 minutes).	Activate the brakes to resume.

Brake Adjustment Procedure:

Raise the trailer and secure it with jack stands.
Remove the cover on the brake backing plate.
Adjust the brake shoes until the wheel is hard to turn.
Back off the adjuster slightly until the wheel spins freely with slight drag.
Repeat for all wheels.
