Installation Instructions for 2007-Current Jeep Wrangler

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Standard Installation:

Lower Muffler or Diesel Canister:
- For standard models, use exhaust removal pliers to lower the muffler.
- For EcoDiesel models, use a 16 mm socket to remove two bolts from the diesel canister. Ensure the exhaust is supported before removing the rubber hangers.

Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch onto the vehicle cross member at a 15°-45° angle and align the leftmost hole in the hitch with the existing hole in the cross member.
- Loosely install the following hardware:
- (1) M12 bolt
- (1) 1/2" flat washer
- (1) 1/2" conical washer
- (1) M12 hex nut
- Use an 18 mm crowfoot wrench and open-end wrench to secure all fasteners. Pull downward gently on the diesel canister for additional clearance, if needed.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten all M12 CL8.8 fasteners to 68 lb-ft (92 Nm).

Reinstall Muffler or Diesel Canister:
- Reinstall the muffler or diesel canister using the bolts removed earlier.
Mopar Off-Road Bumper Installation:

Lower Muffler:
- Follow the same process as in Step 1 of the standard installation.

Remove Factory Bolts and Spacer Plate:
- Use an 18 mm socket to remove four factory M12 flange head bolts from the forward side of the vehicle cross member.
- Remove the spacer plate between the vehicle cross member and the Mopar bumper. Return the spacer plate to the vehicle owner.

Raise Hitch into Position:
- Align the hitch with the existing holes in the cross member.

Install Hitch:
- Reinstall the four factory M12 flange head bolts using an 18 mm socket.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten all M12 CL10.9 fasteners to 92 lb-ft (125 Nm).

Reinstall Muffler:
- Follow the same process as in Step 4 of the standard installation.

- (4) Bolt M12x1.75x120 CL8.8
- (4) Conical Washer 1/2”
- (4) Flat Washer 1/2”

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Driver-Side Taillight:
- Open the rear liftgate.
- On the driver’s side, remove the screws that secure the taillight in place.
- Carefully pull the taillight away from the vehicle to expose the vehicle’s wiring harness connectors.

Disconnect the Wiring Harness:
- Separate the vehicle’s wiring connectors carefully, ensuring not to damage the locking tabs.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.
- Plug the T-Connector harness between the connectors.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing ground stud.
- If no ground stud is available, drill a 3/32” hole in a suitable area (do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed).
- Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Route the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the T-Connector end with the 4-flat connector down through the taillight pocket, between the bumper and the body, toward the center of the bumper.
- Secure the wiring using the provided cable ties.

Secure the T-Connector Harness:
- Secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties, avoiding areas where the wire could be pinched, cut, or melted.
- Mount the 4-flat connector in an accessible location with a bracket or electrical box (not included).

Reinstall the Taillight:
- Reinstall the taillight removed in Step 1.

Test the Installation:
- Ensure all connections are complete for the T-Connector to function properly.
