Trailer Tow Hitch For 00-04 Toyota Avalon Complete Package w/ Wiring Draw Bar Kit and 2" Ball Install Notes
Installation Instructions for Toyota Avalon
Part Numbers:

Wiring Access Location:
- PC3, PC4
Tools Required:
- Drill with 1/2" Bit
- Wrenches: 11/16", 14mm, 17mm
- Hitch requires a 1/2" pin and clip.
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare Vehicle Frame:
- Remove tie-down brackets and bolts from each side of the vehicle frame.
- Return tie-down brackets to the vehicle owner.
- Remove (2) 10mm bolts holding the exhaust hanger to the vehicle.

Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position above the fascia tab.
- Install (2) 10mm bolts and conical toothed washers as shown in Figure 1.
For Exhaust Hanger Configuration:
- Install the 10mm bolts with conical toothed washers supplied with the hitch.
- Ensure the spacer plate is sandwiched between the exhaust hanger and the frame.

Drill Additional Holes:
- Using the hitch as a template, drill (2) 1/2" holes in the vehicle frame as shown in Figure 1.

Secure Fasteners:
- Insert M10 x 1.25 x 30mm CL8.8 bolts with conical toothed washers through the drilled holes, as shown in Figure 1.
- Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque values:
- Tighten M10 bolts to 38 lb-ft (52 N*m).
- Tighten 3/8"-16 U-bolt nuts to 25 lb-ft (34 N*m).

Reinstall Components:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and secure with the original fasteners.
- Reattach the fascia tab and secure all wiring with cable ties to the cross member.
Hardware List:
- (2) M10 x 1.25 x 30mm CL8.8 Bolts
- (2) Conical Toothed Washers
- (2) 3/8"-16 U-bolts
- (4) 3/8"-16 Nuts
- Spacer Plate (to be sandwiched between exhaust hanger and frame)
Safety Notes:
- Use only the drawbar shown for correct bumper clearance and height.
- The drawbar must be used in the RISE position only.
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's towing ratings.

Installation Instructions for Modulite® HD Protector Vehicle Wiring

- Phillips Head #2 Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
- Wire Strippers/Wire Crimpers
- Tester or Volt Meter
- Socket & Ratchet Set
- Drill with 3/32” Drill Bit
- Double-Sided Tape
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Tow Vehicle Inputs - Determination:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Warning: Read and follow all warnings and instructions on the tow vehicle's battery.
- Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
- Caution: Use appropriate gauge wire splices. Blue taps are for 16-18 gauge wires only.
Harness Installation:
- Determine the mounting location of the module and secure it using the double-sided tape provided.
- Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the module, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole to secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.
- Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal. Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15 amp fuse yet.
- Caution: Ensure the module is connected to a constant power source and avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or pinch points.
Completion:
- Secure the harness with cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
- Insert the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and close the cap.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Check each function independently and in combination.
