Wiring Access Location:

Tools Required:

• Wrenches: 13mm, 15mm, 18mm
• Drill Bits: None

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Exhaust:

   • Remove the bolt securing the rearmost exhaust hanger bracket to the passenger-side frame rail.
   • Retain the bolt for reinstallation.

2. Protect Air Conditioning Lines:

   • Snap the provided plastic loom into place over the air conditioning line near the bolt on the passenger side, if present.

3. Remove Existing Bolts:

   • Remove the existing bolts from the frame rails:
     • (2) on the driver side
     • (2) on the passenger side
   • Retain these bolts for hitch installation.

4. Position Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position, aligning it with the attachment points on the frame rails.
   • Attach the hitch using the bolts removed in Step 3. Hand tighten only.

5. Adjust Hitch Position:

   • Push the hitch toward the driver side so the passenger-side bracket rests against the trunk pan.
   • Tighten all fasteners to the torque specifications provided.

6. Reinstall Exhaust:

   • Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the bolt removed in Step 1.
   • Rotate the exhaust hanger bracket before tightening to create additional clearance between the side bracket and the exhaust.

Torque Specifications:

• Tighten all M10 CL10.9 fasteners to 53 lb-ft (72 N*m).
• Tighten all M12 CL10.9 fasteners to 92 lb-ft (125 N*m).

Hardware List:

• (4) Existing M10 Bolts
• (2) Existing M12 Bolts
• (1) Plastic Loom (provided)

Safety Notes:

• Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.

• Trim Panel Remover
• Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
• Phillips Head Screwdriver
• Test Probe
• Wire Crimpers
• Wire Cutters
• Torx-30

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove the Taillight Assemblies:

   • Dodge Grand Caravan / Chrysler Town & Country / Dodge Durango:
     • Open the rear tailgate and remove the T-30 Torx screws securing the taillight housings.
     • Carefully pry the taillights away from the vehicle, being cautious not to break the alignment tabs.
   • Jeep Patriot / Dodge Caliber:
     • Open the tailgate and remove the clips holding the taillight assemblies.
     • Carefully pry the housings away from the vehicle, avoiding damage to alignment tabs.

2. Disconnect the Vehicle Wiring Harness:

   • Disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from both taillight sockets.
   • Plug the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver’s side taillight socket and the vehicle wiring harness.
   • Repeat this step for the T-Connector end with the green wire on the passenger side.

3. Route the T-Connector Wiring:

   • Route the T-Connector end with the green wire and the 4-flat connector down through the opening between the vehicle bumper and body.
   • Route the green wire to the passenger’s side and secure the 4-flat connector underneath the bumper.

4. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector (do not drill into the vehicle floor or bed).
   • Clean the grounding area, drill a 3/32” hole, and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

   Caution:

   • Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

5. Connect the Power Wire:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
   • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
   • Attach the ring terminal to the vehicle’s positive (+) battery cable.
   • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

6. Route the Black Power Wire:

   • Starting at the front of the vehicle, route the black 12-gauge wire along the frame rail to the rear driver’s side.
   • Locate an opening between the vehicle rear bumper and body, and route the wire into the rear driver’s side taillight area.
   • Connect the black wire to the red wire from the T-Connector black box using the provided yellow butt connector.

7. Reconnect the Battery and Install Fuse:

   • Reconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
   • Install the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

   Warning:

   • All connections must be complete for the T-Connector to function properly.

8. Mount the Black Box:

   • Mount the T-Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.
   • Ensure the epoxy side of the module is facing downward to prevent water accumulation.

9. Reinstall the Taillight Assemblies:

   • Reinstall the taillight housing assemblies, ensuring the vehicle wiring harness is positioned correctly.
   • Secure the remaining T-Connector harness under the bumper with the provided cable ties.

10. Test the Installation:

    • Test and verify the T-Connector functionality using a test light or trailer.

    Specifications:

    • Max. stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps)
    • Max. tail lights: (4.2 amps)

Safety Notes:

• Overloading circuits can cause fires. Do not exceed the lower of the towing manufacturer’s rating or the unit specifications.
• Always wear safety glasses and follow all safety precautions during installation.
