Installation Instructions for Mitsubishi Outlander Sport / RVR

Wiring Access Location:
- SUV1, SUV2
Tools Required:
- Wrenches: 14mm, 17mm, 3/4" or 7/8"
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Factory Tow Loop:
- Remove three (3) bolts and the factory tow loop from the passenger-side frame rail.
- Return bolts and tow loop to the vehicle owner.

Insert Fasteners into Frame Rails:
- Insert carriage bolts and blocks into existing holes in the frame rails.
- Adjust carriage bolts to be flush with the inside of the frame rails.
- For the driver side, install carriage bolts by reaching between the bumper fascia and over the carbon canister.

Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and push the carriage bolts through the holes in the hitch.
- Loosely install the 1/2" conical washers and hex nuts onto the carriage bolts.
- Tip: Begin by raising the driver side of the hitch, guiding the side bracket around the carbon canister, then raise the passenger side.

Install Frame Rail Bolts:
- Loosely install the M10 hex bolts with 7/16" conical washers into the existing weld nuts in the bottom of the frame rails.

Tighten Fasteners:
- First, tighten the 1/2"-13 GR5 carriage bolts to 75 lb-ft (102 N*m).
- Then, tighten the M10-1.25 CL8.8 bolts to 42 lb-ft (57 N*m).
Torque Specifications:
- 1/2"-13 GR5 bolts: 75 lb-ft (102 N*m)
- M10-1.25 CL8.8 bolts: 42 lb-ft (57 N*m)
Hardware List:
- (2) Blocks, 0.250" x 1.50" x 4.00" (2 square holes)
- (2) Bolts, M10 x 1.25 x 30mm CL8.8
- (4) Carriage bolts, 1/2"-13 x 4.50" GR5
- (2) Conical washers, 7/16"
- (4) Conical washers, 1/2"
- (4) Hex nuts, 1/2"-13
Safety Notes:
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
