Installation Instructions for Honda CR-V

Tools Required:
- Wrenches: 10mm, 17mm, 11/16"
- Small Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Tape, Utility Knife, Tape Measure, Marking Pencil
- Lubricant or Soapy Water
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Appearance Panel:
- Remove the driver-side appearance panel by removing:
- (5) Plastic rivets
- (3) Hex nuts
- (2) Phillips head screws located in the wheel well behind the driver’s side rear tire.
- Trim the panel and reinstall it after hitch installation.
- Remove the driver-side appearance panel by removing:

Clear Threads in Weld Nuts:
- Run the M10 hex bolts into the existing weld nuts to clear any debris or obstructions.

Lower Exhaust:
- Remove the rubber isolators from the muffler hangers:
- Remove the outside isolator first, then the inside isolator.
- Apply lubricant or soapy water to ease removal.
- Remove the rubber isolators from the muffler hangers:

Prepare Weld Nut Locations:
- Tape the flat washers to the rearward weld nut location on both frame rails.

Raise Hitch into Position:
- Lift the hitch into position, ensuring alignment with the frame rails.

Install Fasteners:
- Install the M10 hex bolts and conical washers into the weld nuts as shown.
- Install the 3/8" U-bolt through the vehicle tie-down hook and the tie-down hook attachment on the hitch receiver.
- Secure with flat washers, lock washers, and hex nuts.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque:
- M10 CL8.8 bolts: 38 ft-lb (52 N*m)
- 3/8"-16 GR5 U-bolt nuts: 30 ft-lb (41 N*m)
- Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque:

Reinstall Exhaust:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the rubber isolators.

Reinstall Appearance Panel:
- Reinstall the trimmed driver-side appearance panel.
Torque Specifications:
- Tighten all 3/8"-16 GR5 fasteners to 30 ft-lb (41 N*m).
- Tighten all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 38 ft-lb (52 N*m).
Hardware List:
- (4) M10 x 1.25 x 30mm CL8.8 Hex Bolts
- (4) 7/16" Conical Washers
- (1) 3/8"-16 U-Bolt
- (2) 3/8" Lock Washers
- (2) 3/8" Flat Washers
- (2) 1/2" Flat Washers
- (2) 3/8" Hex Nuts
Safety Notes:
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
